Set inside a former spice warehouse in Hudson Square, interior designer @lilywickdesign’s loft pairs historic architecture with a contemporary approach to living.

Antiques, custom pieces, and smart spatial planning shape a home that feels layered but never heavy. It’s thoughtful, functional, and distinctly her own. 🥰

School’s started which means the littles are back in town. Sunday pajama strolls punctuated by witty interactions with their Svengali Mac. Last night among other things they asked
-why are there shrimp and green plums in the gazpacho?
-are you still using that really nice parmesan in the buttered noodles?
-what is a Szechuan peppercorn meuniere?
-can we jump up and down on these metal doors? (No)
-why is this corn creme brûlée with blackberries sprinkled with tajin so delicious and can I have a vanilla ice cream cone roadie (yes of course you can)

Overheard on Greenwich street…

Eloise: “Did you hear about the new schnitzel at Houseman? Mac told me all about it when I took my parents here a couple days ago. It’s a 5-ounce slice of Berkshire pork rack pounded thin, breaded and fried in clarified butter.”

Holden: “Sounds like a fancy chicken finger. . . I usually get pasta with butter and parmesan and a chocolate ice cream cone.”

Eloise: “Best pasta in NYC. Apparently there’s a curly endive salad with shaved sugar snap peas and pickled ramps on top of the schnitzel. Kinda not my bag. Dianne is so nice maybe she can ask the kitchen to substitute fries.”

Holden: “She totally will. I’ll make a res, what time is good for you? 5:15?”

Eloise: “My bedtime is 7:00, let’s do5:00.”

“No blind people will live at Trump Tower” by @lilywickdesign from the archives. Then we saw through a glass Trumply, now we see all too clearly. Vote him out forever. This piece is in the collection on exhibit at @showup.inc in Boston!

Revisiting this beautiful setting created for the owners by one of AD's Top 100 Designers - Karin Blake. I was honored to have been selected by Karin to do one of our 'king conversions", for her client. Few designers have the vision Karin does in bringing together such beautifully diverse vintage pieces.

today around mile 9 or so, we started talking about how we had kind of just ruled out big, adventurous travel like this until our kids were older and out of the house. but then a few months ago we were like... what?! why?! life's for living!

our kids won't remember us being gone for ten days, but we will certainly remember hiking the Camino Del Norte from town to town along the northern coast of Spain, accidentally stumbling into a religious cult and asking if they had any beer, that time @notesbynellie said "go ahead and pee, there's no one coming" and a man on a motorcycle whipped out from around the corner the second I pulled my pants down giving him a nice little personal hola, countless Google translate fails, accidentally pouring half of our bottle of txakoli all over the table trying to pour it like the locals do (from way up high!), and that time I had an allergic reaction and my eye swelled shut when there was an impending monsoon and we were still 3 miles from the next town 😉

I can't wait to tell the babe in @lilywickdesign's belly the adventures that we took with him along for the ride (also, how amazing is she for doing this at 20 weeks pregnant!!!!! can we get an amen for Lily!!!)

big shout out to our husbands -- when we asked, every single one of them immediately said yes, absolutely, go for it. we love you we love you we love you

also! every single one of our husbands' parents and/or their sisters have helped them with our children while we've been away -- not because they needed it! the men could have done it on their own! but because they wanted to! thank you, we love you to the moon Annie, Kate, Sarah, Kathy, Bob, Steve, Allison, Bill, and Marsha!!!
