Feeling excited and hopeful after joining today’s launch of the Consumer, Peer Support and Lived Experience Workforce Strategy and Action Plan 2026–2031. 🌿

One phrase really stayed with me: moving from inclusion to integration.

Lived experience belongs wherever decisions are made — shaping services, leading organisations, designing solutions and evaluating what makes a difference.

This aligns so closely with why we’re building @liminal.rhythm.trust: a survivor-led charity supporting wāhine beyond survival, where lived experience informs our approach, our programmes and our vision for the future.

It was encouraging to hear the focus on fair pay, sustainable resourcing, reflective practice and pathways into leadership. Those doing this mahi deserve support to thrive too.

And the conversation about ethical AI felt especially relevant to our work developing Milwaka — bringing survivor perspectives into how technology is designed, governed and used.

There is so much possibility in this next chapter. I’m excited for LRT to contribute, learn and grow alongside this workforce. 💛

Over the last four months I’ve had a hell of a ride. Coming off my biggest festival season yet, which was a dream but beyond hectic, I was thrown into possibly the most chaotic journey I’ve been through yet. I was struggling to find balance thanks to perimenopause, I was dealing with unmanaged depression and anxiety, coming to terms with neurodiversity and finally being diagnosed with the worst burnout I’ve ever had to deal with. Over the last four months I’ve had the opportunity to overhaul my life, to figure out what was working and what wasn’t, to rest, to heal and to grow. While it’s been rough, it hasn’t all been doom and gloom, I’ve had some amazing adventures, spent time with people I love dearly, played in the snow, spent a weekend lakefront, drank incredible wine, snuggled at home with the cat and family, eaten delicious food, and more recently; I’ve got back into making music with @cyril.orson and I’m about to play my first set in four months with him. The reality of being a musician and touring artist is that it can be an insane schedule that can take every once of energy you have. Throw into the mix someone who doesn’t know how to stop, and it’s a recipe for forced time out and serious recovery. I’m well on my way to being back on my feet, and now, it’s time to celebrate. Join us this Saturday as we throw down for what would have been @inkbar_krd’s 25th Birthday at @themothershipnz. I am super excited to hit the decks as @communicate__music for the first time since April, this one will be special. Tickets are available on @undertheradarnz (link in today’s story). Let’s dance!

13yrs ago yesterday my friend, and I launched a public platform called The Happiness Experiement for people who had been following our individual journeys of posting 3 Good Things.

Since that day, the platform has been used by over 5,000 people, globally.

Three years after the launch, I released a mobile app for people to be able to bring their 3GTs to life with music, moving image, graphics, saving and sharing to socials. Working with a tech team from India for 6 months (tech was not so advanced back then!)

I have published 8 different versions of 3GT journals, bought the journals and the practice into women’s refuge, transitional housing, youth mental health hubs, forensic mental health units, aged care facilities, corporate power houses, high schools, primary schools and many many more dining tables in homes across the world. It has been the foundational element threading its way through EmpowerMe, setting a baseline practice for over 50 wahine survivors of sexual harm and constantly and consistently nourishing this community in subtle ways that bleed life and love through your veins.

In the last year, 3 Good Things has inspired a beautiful installation ‘You Good Thing’ for AUM festival.

My favourite 100 day challenge was when Millie was 4yrs old and I was in transition of coming off years of heavy meds as well as learning how not to abuse extra curricular drugs and alcohol. I was trying to figure out how to be wholesome. How to be a good mum, how to connect with my little bright, innocent button of a toddler. I committed to dancing and singing one entire track with her every day for 100 days. I would usually do it right before bed and we’d jump around on her bed and fall exhausted on her pillow, giggling and smiling so hard with each other that there was nothing outside of that moment that could touch us. It was ABSOLUTE BLISS.

This little 3GT baby of mine, now a tween, has become her own entity and I’m so proud to be her Kaitiaki, her guardian.

Intention setting time! ✨🌸
Each year I spend January in reflection of the past year and ruminate on who I want to be and how I might operate in this strange world in order to express that intention. The thing that deserves some space at the forefront of my consciousness for the year ahead.

My born day is early Feb so it is always just after my arrival day that I form into words these intentions for my year around the sun. There are always 3, and they always come into view based on what the universe is showing me I need to see. Today my first intention is ready to start cooking.

#1 - Be unashamedly me.
A dear friend said to me recently, ‘I don’t need anything from you, other than for you to be you’. My daughter repeated the same just the other day.
There are some fruity uncomfortable spaces that are foreign to me that I’m going to be dancing around and within this year in order to progress my purpose, and I’m fully aware I feel out of my depth and a bit of fear when I’ve been in those spaces before. I naturally reject myself because they don’t feel comfortable and there are ways of being in these spaces that don’t make sense to me. This intention is about bringing myself to those spaces without the rejection fear, and instead a gentle yet unashamed acceptance of who I am and how I move. Not needing to change to fit in or abandon myself to make others feel comfortable to fit into current and outdated structures or systems, instead enabling those systems and structures to see flexibility and expansion to include diversity within them.

The unashamedly part is reticent to the underlying and unwelcome, deeply ingrained and near impossible to shake, 4yr old me that feels deep shame on occasion, just for existing. This word specifically featured due to the vast amount of shame that runs through the veins of so many women I stand beside.

Posted to be a reminder and keep myself accountable ✨💗

On Friday 27 September a powerhouse of female energy will be taking over the decks at Ahu for a night of music and dance to raise money for the incredible work EmpowerME do to help survivors of sexual abuse. With some of the biggest players in New Zealand’s underground scene, some fresh faces and an array of sound, this night will be one not to be missed.

Each time we finish an EmpowerME survivor programme, the most common request is that our sisters can meet each other in person and feel the connection of their shared trauma.

Can you imagine a weekend filled with healing workshops, shared stories, and the strength of sisterhood?
For our 'Lift a Sister' survivors of sexual harm, this isn't just a fun time, it's the foundation for healing. EmpowerME is raising funds for a powerful retreat weekend for these courageous women. This retreat offers a safe space for survivors to connect, share their journeys, and build a powerful sense of belonging.

Why is this so important?
One of the biggest challenges survivors face is isolation. Sexual harm can shatter a sense of trust and safety, making it difficult to connect with others. This retreat changes that. By surrounding themselves with other survivors, survivors can find a powerful source of strength and understanding. They can learn coping mechanisms, share experiences, and celebrate their resilience together.

Imagine the impact of your donation:

Workshops: Led by experienced professionals, these workshops will equip survivors with tools for healing, self-care, and empowerment.

Connection: The retreat fosters a safe space for building supportive friendships, and feeling understood.
Empowerment: Through peer support, trauma informed care and positive experiences, survivors rediscover their strength and reclaim their sense of self.

All you have to do to support this incredible Kaupapa is to buy a ticket and hit the dancefloor. Full lineup announcement is coming soon so keep an eye on the event page.
