Insulin is still not affordable or accessible!

Last month, diabetes advocates worldwide participated in an #insulin4all day of action, to remind the world that insulin is still not affordable. Not only are we plagued with the high list price, but now we face a nationwide insulin shortage.

A commonly misused headline in the U.S. is that now insulin is available to Americans for $35. While the Inflation Reduction Act capped insulin prices for $35, this only impacts diabetics on Medicare! Additionally, insulin manufacturers are touting the fact that insulin is now available for under $35 under their new policies. This is simply not true. Despite what has been said, we as diabetics still cannot access affordable insulin.

These misconceptions on what we pay to live day to day lead to deadly consequences. Misunderstandings lead to inaction. None of the insulin legislation that has been proposed in Congress has moved in two and a half years.

Excited to support my fiancé’s premiere children’s book titled “Little Lina’s Brave New World” recently on @abcnews with @abc7robert

I am thankful for the platform and proud she is able to share her story. It’s important, especially with the youth; helping the younger ones learn about diabetes and raising awareness towards its cause. This was my first time illustrating and I’m looking forward to working on the next chapter in this series with @linakaziii ❤️📚🔌 #insulin4all
