IRISH ROOTS 🇮🇪 | Ireland Fashion Week
A beautiful celebration of Irish creativity, craftsmanship and textile heritage at @sthelenshoteldublin for the opening show of @irelandfashionweek.

What I loved about Irish Roots was the emphasis on preserving our indigenous fabrics and traditional craftsmanship while showcasing how contemporary Irish designers are reimagining them.

From the beautiful Donegal tweeds of @magee1866 and @trionaofficial to @deegrahamtailormade, who works with traditional Donegal hand-weavers there was a real sense of pride in our textile heritage.

Particularly touching was the story behind two of Magee’s designs, one inspired by a Donegal tweed suit belonging to the family’s mother and a men’s coat inspired by their father’s coat. With Rosy Temple there representing the family, it was a lovely reminder that these textiles are not simply part of our fashion heritage but part of our family histories too.

@maryosullivan_design offered a wonderful reinterpretation of Toile de Joie, featuring iconic Irish landmarks from the Poolbeg chimneys in Ringsend to the Harland & Wolff cranes in Belfast. Such a clever way of weaving our cultural and industrial heritage into fashion.

Tailoring was another strong thread throughout the show, from @louiscopeland_and_sons to the wonderfully fresh, theatrical vision of @montoandperri, who opened the show with the extraordinary @cocorocha wearing dramatic sculptural felt headwear created in collaboration with Westport-based milliner @linastein.

Lovely too to see @sarahlorraineireland championing manufacturing in Donegal, alongside the collections @charlotteandtess @tailleurdublin and @irelandseyeknitwear.

Beautifully brought together by stylist Anne O’Shea @_anneoshea_, Irish Roots was a wonderful reminder that Irish fashion is about so much more than beautiful clothes. It’s about the makers, the materials, the skills passed down through generations and the designers ensuring those traditions have a future.

Irish Roots, the opening show of Ireland Fashion Week 2026

A room full of Ireland’s creative force, brilliant minds and makers from different industries. From where I sat with my sketchbook, it was heritage in motion. Irish craft, texture and storytelling walking out in real time.
