Linda Männel est finaliste de Moon River, l’Opale Art Prize 2026.

Linda Männel travaille le fil comme une extension de l’image. Cette œuvre représente un paysage de jungle tropicale dont les fils s’échappent, descendant vers le sol depuis les feuilles peintes, et dont les verts viennent recouvrir le noir de l’encre initiale. L’œuvre naît d’une résidence menée près de Tulum, une région depuis transformée par l’installation de résidents étrangers et d’un mode de vie de luxe qui pèse sur la population locale comme sur le milieu naturel. Contre cette emprise, la matière vivante finit par reprendre la main et occuper l’espace alentour, à la manière de la végétation du Yucatán.

In der Ausstellung "Endless summer" nimmt uns die Künstlerin Linda Männel mit auf eine Reise durch ihr Werk.

Zu entdecken sind Malerei und Zeichnungen mit Tusche auf Leinwand und farbigen Garn.

Schemenhaft setzen sich Ausschnitte des Himmels, des Meeres und der Pflanzenwelt zu Landschaften zusammen.

In den Bildern zeigen sich Fantasie- und ganz reale Sehnsuchtsorte.

Die Leinwände sind linienhaft mit eingefärbten Wollfäden durchzogen. Die Form der Stickerei lässt ein dreidimensionales Bild entstehen, ein textiles Objekt.
Bei manchen ihrer Objekte scheint die Farbe regelrecht aus der Leinwand herauszulaufen.

In ihrer aktuellen Installation thematisiert Linda Männel die touristische Überflutung vieler Sehnsuchtsorte.
In buntgestreiften Stoffzelten sind Bilder dieser Orte, wie in einem Kokon präsentiert.

Die Ausstellung "Endless summer" ist vom 25.9. bis zum 25.10.2026 im Kunstmuseum Bayreuth zu sehen.

Die Eröffnung findet am 25.9.2026 um 17 Uhr im Historischen Sitzungssaal im Alten Rathaus/Kunstmuseum Bayreuth statt.

There is an unexpected optimism running through our conversation with Linda Mannel.

Not optimism about the market, or visibility, or success.

But about people.

She speaks of strangers who approach her work with curiosity, generosity and openness—proof, perhaps, that art still has the capacity to slow us down enough to really look.

It's a perspective that feels increasingly uncommon.

For centuries, textiles have been dismissed as craft, domestic labour, or simply "women's work."
Yet these traditions carried extraordinary technical knowledge, preserved across generations with remarkable precision and patience.

@lindamnnl doesn't reject that history—she reclaims it. Using embroidery as a painterly gesture, she transforms thread into line, texture into image, and a historically overlooked practice into a contemporary artistic language.

Perhaps the question was never whether textile belongs in contemporary art.

Perhaps it was why we spent so long asking.

Our conversation with Linda Mannel explores authorship, perception, and the quiet radicalism of expanding what painting can be.

Vom 11. BIS 14. JUNI 2026

Auf dem Gut Wolfgangshof ist wieder Kunst, Kabarett, Musik und gute Unterhaltung angesagt.
"VOLL STOFF!" ist das Motto, hier ist für jeden etwas Interessantes dabei.

Zur umfassenden Gruppenausstelung mit dem Titel "Voll Stoff!" wurden 50 bildende Künstlerinnen und Künstler eingeladen, wie Dressed in Sound, Sabrina Ackermann, Nándor Angstenberger, Sascha Banck, Eva Brenner, Jochen Flinzer, Anna Bien, Winfried Baumann, Verena Waffek, Linda Männel, Barbara Engelhard, Katja Gehrung, Anne Sterzbach, Jochen Flinzer, Katja Then, Sebastian Tröger, Philipp Selig, Petra Krischke, Reinhard Erbes, Susanne von Janda, Verena Waffek, Woldemar Fuhrmann, Karoline Glasow, Theresa Hartmann, Nadine Zencker, Marie Luncz, Odour Odessa, Nora Lösel, Anders Möhl, Olga von Moorende und viele mehr.

Die Ausstellung wird am Donnerstag, den 11. Juni 2026 um 17 Uhr eröffnet und kann bis zum 14. Juni 2026 besucht werden.
