Behind the scenes of our @esquiremalaysia August issue — The Malaysian Issue. We wanted to make this one really special, so we doubled down, bringing together two actors from two different generations. Deep and heartwarming conversation ensued. Somehow, we also got a billboard on Jalan Tun Razak.

When it comes to tailored deconstruction, who does it better than @thedicksonlim? From the way each look was presented to the attitude that came with it, everything felt intentional. 🕷️

To me, “Restraint & Desire” is about wanting something you can’t necessarily have. The more you hold yourself back, the more the desire grows, and when you finally get it, it feels even more WORTH THE WAIT. That’s exactly how I felt watching each look come out, wanting something from each one, only to leave wanting it all in the end. 🙌

Tbh my fav part was the play on textures and contrasts: marble, velvet, leather and loud colours 🐊 Plus the skirts and gloves 👀

Our laughs @imanopie @tisya_ong @ninariff were the icing on the cake 🧁 😂

How does a song travel through time? Some songs are unearthed on old tapes at yard sales, some are sampled into new music decades or centuries later.

More recently, streaming and social media have changed the way we listen to music. TV, films and memes are bringing back songs from decades ago, introducing vintage hits to a new generation. See: Kate Bush, Fleetwood Mac and Jeff Buckley.

It’s a lottery that not everybody wins, but these comeback stories can make or break a musician’s retirement fund.
