When I took this headshot, I was 31. I could feel myself coming fully into my power, my talent, my sensuality, my voice. Comfortable in my own skin. Caring so much less about what other people thought of me. And yet, the auditions landing in my inbox were for roles asking me to be the opposite of those things. And those roles shape how our culture views women. Most of the time I’d be scratching my head going, “Huh? Who is this? Nobody I know.” I’d get some of these auditions and feel like that famous line from Taxi Driver… “You talkin’ to me?” 🤔 Why would anyone want me to diminish the best parts of myself?? It was so confusing, disorienting, and frustrating. (And one of many reasons why I created @lifeofrileyfilm years later.) Not long after this photo was taken, I made some BIG changes personally and professionally. Because I knew making myself smaller would only hurt me. I felt relieved, excited, courageous, and holy 💩 terrified. (Ya know, layered like…a human being.) Would you ever have guessed aaaaall this was going on inside this woman in the photo just by looking at her? #BehindTheHeadshot #ActorsLife #MoreThanMeetsTheEye #Storytime

Is there someone you want to give a shout-out to today? Well… mine is @elianakraut. 💫 Swipe 👉 and read on. She’s one of the bravest, coolest people I know. It’s easy to forget how much courage it takes to put your work out into the world, in front of strangers. All while also being a Brand Manager @livenation and a screenwriter. Happy I could be there to witness, support and share. For artists, there is no greater gift you can give to them or the world. 🤍 #ShoutOut #SundayShare #ArtistsSupportingArtists @steinyfest @elianakraut @melkraut (ever heard this woman sing? 🔥) @lisadatz @elianakraut @melkraut @steinyfest

Once upon a time, my very talented brother Mike Datz wrote a song called “Restless Heart.” For another artist. Rude. 😂 I loved it, we recorded it, and years later it came on while I was supposed to be packing. Naturally, I grabbed a 💩-ty USB mic and started singing along with myself in my living room. It’s 55 seconds long. In 2026, that’s basically a feature film. 😂 Apparently I’ll do anything to avoid packing. The end.
