POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Years ago I paid a guy a very low hourly rate for some landscaping work.

I thought I was getting a killer deal!

So I turned him loose and checked in a week or two later.

Before I knew it, I had spent over $2,000 for roughly $600 worth of work.

I could have paid several times the hourly rate I was paying this guy and had a lower bill at the end.

So when is it appropriate to pay a contractor by the hour, and how can you protect yourself from over-paying as a homeowner?

And what are some of the things that intimidate you most about hiring a contractor?

We've all heard horror stories about building inspectors - how did this one go?

I'd say he was pretty reasonable and only called out a couple of things.

Had I not been so charming and good looking he might have called out several more items.

These could all be summarized by someone who can help you achieve your goals!

Do you want a quick sale or do you want top dollar? Will the market you're in support both?

Are you looking for a transaction that will benefit you on your taxes?

Structural engineers are like contractors. Some are good at their job and some are not.

If you ever find yourself in need of some guidance on how to choose which engineer to hire, don't by shy, reach out!

I love sharing what I've learned but am also shamelessly trying to earn your trust for when the day comes and you need someone to help you (or someone you know) buy or sell a home or investment property.

What would we do differently today vs what we did in 2021?

Negotiated maintenance items like tree removal into our offer.

Whe bought this property in 2021 - a SELLER'S market.

We likely would not have gotten our offer accepted had we made it contingent on getting tree work done.

Now, we are in a BUYER'S market and many sellers would be more than happy to accommodate an offer like that.

If you're considering hiring a realtor, find out if they have the experience and expertise to get you the best deal possible.

And if not, then reach out to Lisa or I.

He's asking "Who in their right mind would spend over an hour playing with one of these things, let alone multiple years at a time??"
