What a night! ✨

Last night, the Phoenix Children’s Ambassadors came together for Gather for Good, a special evening dedicated to learning, giving, & making a lasting impact.

We had the opportunity to hear about two incredible programs, Child Life & the Simulation Center, & the meaningful ways they support patients, families, & care teams at Phoenix Children’s. Together, our Ambassadors had the opportunity to cast their votes & help shape where our collective impact will be felt.

What are you fighting for?

Seriously. I want you to think about that.

Because right now, it’s easier than ever to hide behind the chaos.

There’s always something happening. Something to worry about. Something to be angry about. Another reason to be distracted, overwhelmed, or convinced that now isn’t the right time.

And some of those reasons are completely valid.

But at some point, you have to ask yourself how much of your life you’re willing to put on hold waiting for things to get easier.

Because they’re probably not going to.

The world has always been messy. Life has always been unpredictable. And there will always be a thousand reasons to convince yourself that what you want can wait.

But how long are you willing to wait?

Another year? Five years? Until your circumstances are perfect?

You get one shot at this life.

So what matters enough to you that you’re willing to fight for it, even when everything around you feels uncertain?

And more importantly, are you actually fighting for it?

Happy 4th birthday, my little pumpernickel. ❤️

I’m not sure why I started calling you that when you were tiny, but it still makes you smile every time.

Vida, I’m so blessed to have you as my fourth child.. You are so full of life. Smart, witty, feisty, and absolutely sure of what you want. You’ve got a fire in you that keeps me on my toes, and I love you for exactly who you are.

There are so many blessings in this life if we remember to look for them. You are one of them. God, thank you for this amazing little girl.

You make me want to stay healthy and strong so I can be there for every phase of your life. Getting to watch you become who you’re meant to be is going to be magical.

Happy birthday, little one. I love you. ❤️

We actually think a theme makes hosting easier. Ok maybe not easier, but definitely more intentional and fun! What do you think?!

Our friends @brittney_farra, @laurarushdesign and @suekstearns hosted a murder mystery and I’ve never seen a theme done so well! People went all out and it made for a magical fun evening!!

A theme adds element of excitement, especially if it’s linked to a holiday, special event, or a book. The theme creates something to look forward to!

A theme gives purpose and direction to the guests as well as the hosts. Instead of feeling unsure of what meal item to bring or how to participate, it gives us clear direction for what the event will look like!

It doesn’t always have to be a costume or a strict dress code, but even telling guests to dress in fall colors, festive pjs, or comfy sweats takes the guess work out of it for your guests.

A theme helps choose a menu that makes the whole gathering feel memorable. If it’s a cookbook dinner, the menu comes from the cookbook. Sometimes the food IS the theme!

We were so inspired by our friends’ creativity with their Rococo murder mystery, every detail was incredible!

Themes fuel creativity! If it’s a movie theme, maybe the menu is based on nods to the film. The decor might have the same elements you see in an iconic scene. The playlist comes from the soundtrack. Any theme is a good way to get inspired!

Not every theme has to be elaborate but even a small theme like “fall brunch” or a cookbook dinner based on the book create a memorable and cohesive event that you and your guests will enjoy!

I absolutely adore any opportunity to design special little additions for parties and gifts that bring a little more personality, character, and thoughtfulness to the day.

The tiny details that make a celebration feel that much more personal and a gift feel especially meant for someone. I will always love being a part of those moments.

One of the things I’ve learned about long-term relationships is that you don’t just fall in love with a person.

You fall in love with a person who is going to change.

They’re going to have new dreams. New priorities. New fears. New seasons.

They’re going to become versions of themselves you couldn’t have predicted when you first met.

And so will you.

That’s part of the deal.

It’s easy to say you want someone who supports your growth.

The harder question is:

Can you support theirs?

Can you give them room to change without taking it personally?

Can you stay curious about who they’re becoming instead of expecting them to always be who they were?

Can you keep getting to know the person you love?

Because after enough years together, you’ve both lived a lot of lives inside the same relationship.

I’m so grateful @lisafresa has made room for so many versions of me. And I hope she knows I’ll always make room for every version of her that’s still to come.

Maybe that’s one of the greatest gifts we can give the person we love:

The freedom to keep becoming.

An entrepreneur friend stopped texting back. I spent a month guessing why. Then I remembered the five months when I went “quiet”. I did the same thing while running a company… And nobody knew.

The best thing that you can do for an entrepreneur friend who has gone quiet is to simply reach out. Check in with them. Let them know that you were thinking of them.

Phoenix Children’s Ambassadors came together for another Coffee Talk — taking a little time out of busy schedules, families, careers, and everything in between to learn, connect, and ask an important question:

How can we continue showing up better for our children and our families?

We’re incredibly grateful to Dr. Sarjita Shukla, MD, Medical Director of Integrative Medicine at Phoenix Children’s, for sharing her time, expertise, and perspective with our community.

All the magical details of our Poolside Practical Magic party! ✨ We went with a rich, moody color palette. We created a dramatic floral backdrop and mixed in garden plants and herbs. We layered different fabrics for more texture and topped it off with silver and crystal candles. Our guests went overboard with the dishes they prepared! No Practical Magic party would be complete without chocolate cakes and Midnight Margaritas!🍸✨
