I can’t believe I finally get to share this news...

The Spearcrest Kings series is officially coming to audiobook!

I am thrilled, honoured and grateful to be announcing that @podiumentertainment will be bringing the gorgeous, scandalous, and often chaotic world of Spearcrest to life.

I know you’ve all been waiting a long time for this—I for one can’t wait to binge the entire series while moodily crossing some windy moors in the north of england for the ambience.

Thank you as always to the peerless @literary.fey, the most hard-working, patient, gracious and talented agent any author could ever ask for.

The hallowed halls of Spearcrest shall soon be opening their gates to listeners, so I hope you have all done your revision and ironed your uniforms.

In the meantime…

Which book are you most excited to listen to?

🐈 🐈‍⬛ THE CAT IS OUT THE BAG! 🐈‍⬛ 🐈

It brings this catgirl great pleasure to announce that my second novel LOVERS, REVERSED will be released in Autumn 2027 with @verve_books

Lovers, Reversed is my queer autistic witchcraft novel, a literary romance novel for the new age! I have worked harder on this novel than any other creative project in my 27 years. It’s about a sex worker who discovers love and tarot cards. I really think you’ll like it nyah! 🐈

@verve_books will also be re-rereleasing my freaky vampire novel, Fragile Animals, since @404ink has closed its doors due to the inhospitable publishing industry and the pains of being a little guy! Little guys are important. I miss 404, but I’m glad to be partnered with another pioneering indie press that lets me embraces my weirdo instincts.

Uwu uwu uwu! I can’t wait to be back on my bullshit!!!

Huge congratulations, Jamie! We’re so excited to finally yell about this with you!

✨ 🩸 🔥

Oxford, 1830.

London is a smouldering ruin. Tension is rising between humans and fae. And a red star burns overhead.

War has left the British empire broken and bleeding. The Industrial Revolution has driven the fae courts into the light. Oxford, now the capital, is a city on the brink, haunted by whispers of apocalypse.

Aria came to study magick under the brilliant Professor Ashcroft. But her hunger for knowledge is dangerous, and her power even more so. When attacks erupt across the city, Aria and Ashcroft are pulled into a conspiracy that could shatter the fragile peace between human and fae, and unleash a dark magick which could bring the country to its knees.

Aria’s powers may be the kingdom’s last hope... or its ruin.

We are DELIGHTED to say that @raine_clouds_writes ' genre-bending climate science fantasy THE SALT ORACLE has been shortlisted for the Arthur C. Clarke Award 2026!

Huge congratulations to Raine and the other finalists!

You can buy THE SALT ORACLE now from all good bookstores!

"It's been seventeen years since the internet crashed and left the world broken...

On the Bellwether, a huge floating college safe from the politics and war of the mainland, Auli is part of a research team studying the Oracle - a strange, uncanny girl who channels dangerous ghosts.

The scientists notate everything she says, using her to piece together maps, weather forecasts, and anything else that might make the region’s hazardous waters a little safer for shipping cartels and local fishermen alike.

Auli is horrified when her beloved mentor, Boudain, reveals his scheme to create more human Oracles, seeking to leverage the power of this unique girl into security for the Bellwether and perhaps even a return to a new, warped digital age. The very next day, she finds him dead.

Reluctantly promoted to lead her team, Auli begins an investigation into Boudain's death. Her scrutiny reveals the corrupt heart of the institute she has dedicated herself to, and as the ghosts and even the very seas around them start to mutate, she is forced to wrestle with a life-changing decision: save the Oracle or save the Bellwether - and all the lives that depend on it."

We are so excited to share that the brilliant Emma Davies ( @emma.lou.d ) has won the Penguin Michael Joseph Undiscovered Writers Prize, with her stunning medieval Gothic horror novel, THE HOLLOW SAINT. Congratulations, Emma!

👻 ⛪ 🐀

Davies wins a publishing contract with @michaeljbooks, which has acquired world all-language rights to the novel, and joins Julie Gourinchas’s ( @literary.fey ) list.

The prize seeks new writers from backgrounds that are under-represented in publishing, including ethnicity, sexuality, gender identity, disability or socio-economic background. In its third year, it has focused on horror fiction.

This year the prize was judged by a panel featuring bestselling author CJ Tudor, Waterstones range manager Adeela Badshah, literary agent Julie Gourinchas and influencer Sinead Hanna, headed up by PMJ commissioning editor Jorgie Bain.

Davies is a PhD researcher in English Literature at the University of Bristol, where she specialises in studying peatlands in Gothic and horror fiction.

THE HOLLOW SAINT follows a devout religious woman, an anchoress, who encloses herself in a cell as the Black Death nears her village, told through fractured voices that blur miracle, madness and monstrosity.

She said: “I’m thrilled to be working with Julie and the team at PMJ to bring my medieval anchoress to life, and I can’t wait for readers to walk into the darkness with her. Horror is the genre closest to my heart, and it feels more vital than ever right now, so to have been chosen in a year that celebrates it is surreal and wonderful.”

Bain commented: “Emma stood out in an exceptionally strong field. Her storytelling, both haunting and deeply nuanced, left a lasting impression, and The Hollow Saint carries extraordinary depth. For under-represented communities, horror is a space where experimentation creates visibility and confronts social realities – so it was an honour to celebrate this genre in this year’s PMJ Undiscovered Writers’ Prize.”
