Freddie was rescued from the streets of Romania. We adopted him in November 2024 through @thepackprojectuk after seeing his story on Instagram. He was driven all the way to the UK to join us ... we had no idea if it was going to be a good match, but it turned out to be perfect!

Freddie’s signature move is his spinning,  He first learned it while living on the streets of Romania, standing on his hind legs and twirling to beg for scraps. Now he still does it when he’s excited and really happy - and it’s still a big reminder of his past and how far he’s come. When Freddie first arrived, he was absolutely terrified, scared of hands, feet, and any loud noise. Our behaviourist even said she could tell he’d likely been kicked and punched. It took hours just to get him to take a single step outside our front door, and we had to teach him how to use stairs and even how to be toilet trained.

It’s been 9 months now, and Freddie has completely blossomed into the most gentle, happy, and trusting dog. He’s a short little mush-mash of 17 breeds, and what he's lacking in height, he brings in love. He's brought so much laughter and light into our lives - we can’t imagine life without.

Thank you, Freddie, for sharing ❤️

• WE’RE NOT ANGRY, WE’RE DISAPPOINTED • 💔😢😩

What happened to impartial journalism BBC? The new documentary and article on adopting dogs from abroad is incredibly one-sided 💔

Whilst we weren’t included in the documentary or asked about our processes here’s what we would have liked to contribute….

• We are registered with the Charity Commission.

• We are registered as importers with @defrauk and so all our adoptees have full transparency of where they came from and where they go to.

• We test our dogs for brucellosis with the APHA ( a part of @defrauk ) prior to them leaving Romania. Their bloods are taken and sent to the lab in the UK for testing.

• All of our dogs are vaccinated to a UK standard using a brand used mostly in vet practices across the UK.

• We also blood test for various other potential viruses caused by ticks or sand flies.

• Our adoption process is very robust, with 3 stages to the process. We highlight at every step the challenges our adopters can face.

• Every adopter is required to work with their own positive reward based behaviourist accredited to the @theimdt or equivalent.

• We have a support chat group with experienced members from our team to help adopters prepare for arrival, during the arrival and during the settling in process.

• All of our adopters also get a 1 month free subscription to @ameliathedogtrainer training hub to support them.

• We have a strict policy on food, that is there to help the dogs settle both mental and physically.

• We work with applicants to find them a suitable match.

• Would you like to meet some of our 1400 adoptees? Here’s just 20 to start with! They’ll tell you that settling in a dog from this background is rarely easy, but with the right support it’s possible, and always worth it!

That’s what we would have said.

There is no doubt that this will continue to unnecessarily harm the chances of our dogs finding homes, and we need your support now more than ever.

PLEASE show YOUR support by writing a comment below and sharing this post ⬇️

And if you can by making a DONATION, more info on how to in the link in our bio 🧡
