It was a glorious day to hike 13 miles with these incredible ladies.❤️🥾🍁❤️

We set out from Timberline Lodge to see the fall colors on our way to Paradise Park. The weather was perfect and the leaves were poppin!🍁🍂

I feel so thankful for these friends and our ability to have great conversations and a lot of fun just being together outside.

I spent eight months training for my first 50K that I never got to run.

An injury kept me off the start line, and if I’m honest, I was heartbroken. But I knew I wanted to be there for my dear friends who were still running their first ultra.

But my friends had other plans.

They surprised me with temporary tattoos of my face so I could still be out on the course with them. 😂❤️

I don’t know what I did to deserve these humans, but I’m grateful every day that I get to call them friends.

Sometimes the finish line isn’t the most important part of the story.

👏We need to talk about perimenopause and endurance training. Take it from Kirsten:

"I don’t hear enough from athletes in perimenopause trying to juggle everything. We aren’t acknowledging the juggling act it is for our bodies to be training while navigating huge hormonal shifts and all the side effects that come with them. This phase of life is a lonely space to occupy."

We're so proud of @littlestuff_pctsobo for writing about a topic so many of us are thinking about but that traditional media tries to scare us from. ❤️

Kirsten's also fundraised $1,000 through her First 50k Sisterhood experience to help more girls and women get on the trails.

The rainbow photo from a couple of days ago isn’t meant to deny terrible and frightening things are not happening in the world. It is a reminder not to give up hope. You might want to take a look at the passionate message Melissa Dalton-Bradford posted about hope. Happy Birthday to @littlestuff_pctsobo and kudos to her for running for a cause.
The rest of the photos show it was a very foggy day but beautiful for our training walk on Marys Peak on Friday. Wednesday we start driving south. The post next Sunday should have photos of hiking in completely different terrain and conditions.

Spent the weekend on Mt Hood in the Tilly Jane A-Frame with some of the AMAZING Adventure Mamas of Portland Crew!

We backpacked up in snowshoes and took over the historic a-frame which has only a wood burning rove to heat it. It was a balmy 26 degrees inside when we got there🥶 But we got the fire going and our other friends arrived. We had a slumber party in the upstairs loft (very rustic).

The next day we explored over to Cloud Cap Inn which was built in the early 1900’s. Turns out my hubby’s grandfather, Louis Ludeman, helped renovate it! We even got a sneak peek inside!

It was such a special time and I’m so thankful for good conversations, yummy food and lots of laughter. It’s so important for women to get together and have time to connect and fill our hearts and cups.

A big shout out to @littlestuff_pctsobo for planning this and driving. So thankful for you friend!❤️

🏔️ Backpacking into the Tilly Jane A-Frame with the Adventure Mamas of Portland. Early miles, heavy packs, cold air, and the kind of views that remind us why we do this. Strong women, shared trails, and a cabin earned the hard way.

"I want trail running to be a place where middle-aged women know they can start something new and audacious, even if they've never felt like athletes before." ✨

Kirsten's a strong distance hiker ready to jump into a 50k run!

So thrilled to have you in the Sisterhood, @littlestuff_pctsobo.
