The Muppet Show: Details you may have missed!
Miss Piggy falls in the swamp wearing her Aphrodite costume and we wanted to show it soaking up the mucky water. @jordan_riser_devries painted her dress beautifully! Look closely when she’s in the boat and you’ll catch a glimpse.

And who doesn’t love a plump piggy leg squeezed into a gladiator sandal? (My personal favorite from the special) thanks to @stacialangdesign for these gold wonders.

@realmisspiggy asked that I crop these so she doesn’t get any unwanted attention on wikiFeet.

The Muppet Show: Miss Piggy's dressing gown. The madam likes to be comfortable and fashionable even when she's out of costume backstage. This ensemble was inspired by the dramatic styles of many leading ladies who came before her (see Rita Moreno from Sunset Boulevard serving in slide 4).

For almost the last 3 months, I’ve been working on CTG American Idiot! This production is incredible with the deaf and speaking performers! I had so much fun, working as the Crafts Artisan and a Stitcher. I distressed, sewed, patterned, painted, dyed and built custom costume pieces!
So much work ,but extremely proud of everything that made it in the show. Here are some pro shots from the show, and a few bts from the costumes I worked on. Congratulations to the costume workshop team !! We did it!!

So @lizadally did something pretty cool. When we took a trip to Salem, we visited the site of the Parris Parsonage, where the Witch Trials hysteria began with Abigail Williams. She noticed that a black walnut tree grew near the foundations, and gathered a bunch of walnuts to take back to LA. When she got back, she turned them into a natural dye and not only made a 1692 poppet, but a couple tote bags from the fabric dyed from Salem historical site walnuts. What a cool idea.

Meet Memphis the Lemur yet another puppet creation we built for Adventures with Far Flung, @adventureswithfarflung .

People ask us if we usually make costumes for our puppets or buy kid’s clothes. We always to go the custom costume route. This little guy’s costume including the hoodie and hat were handmade for us by @lizadally .

This best thing about a custom costume is puppets have such odd proportions: small arms, little bodies, no shoulders, etc. A custom costume can account for all of those things.

The under structure of this puppet is carved foam and sheet foam - see previous post. The puppet is covered in hand dyed puppet fleece, and hand sewn craft fur. Pay special attention to the tail in the last image - all of those light and dark strips of fur were hand sewn together to create the effect of the striped tail!
