Some corners of New York give themselves away slowly, and this is one of them. A white house caught midway through its own changing, an orange fence at street level, a power line running across an open sky, all of it held in late afternoon light. It is the kind of ordinary block you pass a hundred times before you really see it, and it is exactly the kind of New York this show was made for. This piece is on view now and available for purchase at the Beehive at Yellow Studio, part of New York, I Love You, a group exhibition on view through November 15. Come see it in person, spend a little time with it, and take a piece of New York home with you. Beehive 792 Route 35 Cross River, New York. Shopping hours: Tuesday to Friday 11am to 5pm Saturday 11am to 5pm Sunday 12pm to 4pm. Featured artwork: Renovations on 263rd St. Elizabeth de Bethune oil on panel 12 x 12 in $400

One exhibit ends, one begins! I am appreciative of the turn out at the opening reception of ‘Life Drawn’ at @upstreamgalleryny It is joy that my watercolor ‘P40’ was seen by a very nice crowd of visitors and fellow artists. I am also appreciative of the way the exhibit was purposely hanged. ‘Life, Drawn’ runs till August 30th. #hastingsnyart #watercolor #openingartreception #westchesterarts #sliceoflife @artswestchester

Out in Orient, Diane Bratcher, Elizabeth de Bethune, 2025, Oil on panel, 36" x 24", Photo Credit: John Maggiotto "I am a Yonkers, New York based representational painter, making casual and intimate pictures of the mostly queer people in my daily life. Recently I have focused on painting series of formal portraits of specific LGBTQ+ populations. I was inspired to pursue this after seeing two Bronzini portraits of young girls at the Uffizi—something about them really drove home to me that these were living, breathing people 500 years ago. The portraits were like time capsules from the 16th century reaching out to me in the 21st. I wanted to make similar time capsules that will live on into the future. One of these portrait series focuses on women who are part of a long-standing community of women identified women on the North Fork of Long Island. I have been connected to this community for decades and am aware that age and gentrification are taking their toll on it. “Out in Orient, Diane Bratcher” is one of the (thus far) sixteen portraits in this series. Diane is an acquaintance of long standing, known for her volubility and humor. She asked that her walker be part of the portrait because it “is a daily part of my life.” “Under a Sherbert Sky” is beautifully curated by our guest juror Marc Mitchell @methan18 and shares work by artist Elizabeth de Bethune. #contemporaryartist #contemporaryart #Springpublication #Springartshow #opencall #callforart #studioartist #ilikeyourwork #artpublication #art #artist #ilikeyourworkpodcast #artpodcast #Springcatalog #artexhibition #artistsoninstagram #supportart #supportartists #podcast @lizartdeb
