As the World Cup heats up, it’s time to bring in reinforcements to celebrate, says our friend Liz Barrett, who featured Monte Velho Red from Esporão in her roundup of recommendations on her recent WGN-TV appearance.

As the #1 wine in Portugal, this is what’s on so many family tables during game viewing, and, as Liz points out, it’s a versatile red that bursts with flavor without being heavy, making it a great pairing with sausages, grilled chicken, summer weather, and sharing with friends. (Pro tip: serve it ever so slightly chilled this time of year!)

Portugal’s next two matches are Tuesday, June 23rd at 12p Central and Saturday, June 27th at 6:30p Central. If you want to watch like the Portuguese, be sure to bring Monte Velho to the party! hashtag#vamosportugal hashtag#cultiVAMOS

Always have a weather plan... even if it's @rsvineyards and @davisbynumwines.

Flashback to April 2025 while cochairing the M.F.K. Women in Food & Storytelling Symposium in Nashville, Tennessee.

We planned for everything..... the food. The drinks. The people. The speakers. The venues. The audio. So many things.... we did not plan for the Tornadoes.

What do our cool, calm and collected attendees do as the closing reception starts and we all have to walk three floors downstairs to the Tornado shelter? They grab trays of fried chicken and bottles of wine. If we are going out, we are going out swinging.

The bonds that were made in that shelter.... so silly. So fun!

Proof that a weather plan when event planning is essential.

Thanks for being the MVP, @lalondek15 of Rodney Strong.

Not buttery. Not basic. Oregon Chardonnay just entered the chat 🍏

Sokol Blosser's 2024 — pear, lime leaf, citrus blossom, bright minerality. Fermented in French oak, finished in stainless steel. This is Chardonnay that lets the vineyard talk.

Team California or Team Oregon Chard? 👇
