When did your knees start hurting doing nothing?
First it was squats. Then lunges. Then sitting too long. Then stairs, both directions. You rested more, and somehow more things started hurting. Boo!

That's not damage spreading. That's sensitivity spreading. Pain is your body's alarm system, and every movement you avoided taught it to ring louder. Normal life started registering as a threat.

Good news. Alarms can be recalibrated. Not with more rest, but with graded loading. Overcoming isos before eccentrics. Reduced range before full range. Tempo before speed. One step at a time, until your knees trust load again.

We had a blast at Thunder Over Louisiana Air Show this weekend. Mom wanted to get out of the house and that woman cannot be stopped, pouring rain and all. Blue Angels were incredible, and early estimates put the economic impact at around $15 million for the region. I’ve been on my economic diversification soapbox in SWLA for 20 years now, and it was great to see it in practice. Big kudos to the medical team too, saw them responding to multiple heat incidents and they were on it.

Mobility is not stretching. Stretching is passive. Mobility is the ability to move freely and efficiently through your full range of motion, with control. It combines flexibility, stability, and strength. Think of flexibility as how far the door can swing, and mobility as whether you actually own the hinge. Every class at Thrive Fitness builds mobility on purpose, because range you can’t control is range your body won’t let you use.

Interested in just mobility? Check out Functional Mobility class available Thursdays 6:30am and 8:30am. Reserve your spot online. 8 spots available!
