This is Lloyd Klein. He was born in Montreal in 1967 to French parents. His father was vice-president of an international airline. By his teenage years he had lived in six countries. Paris was always the centre.

He studied architecture. Not fashion. He began his journey without training.

Gabrielle d'Allonches, a PR lady, introduced him to Givenchy himself at a couture show: Lloyd Klein — the next designer.

One afternoon a name he could not stop thinking about: Grès. He turned to Gabrielle: call Grès. He became Artistic Director of Maison Grès. Then Givenchy called personally to congratulate him.

He moved to Los Angeles. Whitney Houston. Kim Kardashian. Kate Moss. Behind every photograph was a moment nobody saw. His hand adjusting a shoulder. The fabric falling right. The woman turning toward the mirror. Silence. They both knew.

In New York he invited Jocelyne Wildenstein to his show. A Swiss socialite ex-wife of a billionaire art dealer, tabloids called her Catwoman. She arrived too late and missed the show.

He didn't give up and invited her again. She came backstage after the finale. That was how they truly met.

They travelled. They laughed. They fought. They loved. He proposed with a thirty two carat diamond ring at the Versace mansion in Miami.

They stayed together for twenty two years. On New Year's Eve 2024 they were in Paris. They lay down for a nap before dinner. When he woke he said her name. She did not answer. She was cold. She was gone.
