A Day in Lövholmen – explore Lövholmen through 11 (spatial) sketches of public interest
Saturday 6th June, 10:00-17:00
Throughout Lövholmen*

Produced by OPI Lab 2025/2026:
Kenza Benbouchaïb, Alessandra De Mitri, Elise Jensen, Lauren Johnson, Carl Jonsson, Sara Lalmi, Rebecca Mielonen Rothenborg, Kristina Sahleström, Susana Santa-Marta, Francesca Savio, Abbas Sbeity, Bogusława Szlachciak, Claudia Vetrano

*A map of the works will be updated at A Day in Lövholmen’s website (link in bio) and on the day at OPI Lab’s storefront, Gröndalsvägen 1, 117 66.
Metro: Liljeholmen / Tram: Trekanten. Please note there are several steps.

Lövholmen is one of Stockholm’s last remaining industrial areas – a landscape of old paint factories, cement depots, parking lots, construction materials in a moment of pause, fenced off areas of the waterfront, studios for artists and cultural production – all now facing large-scale urban transformation.

A Day in Lövholmen is a one-day event where participants of OPI Lab, a practice-based course in art, architecture and related fields, led by Jonas Dahlberg and Jasmine Hinks through the Royal Institute of Art, present works that engage with this contested site.

A Day in Lövholmen asks: How might what we do now affect what one day will come? Can experimental spatial sketches, prototypes, propositions, and negotiations based on artistic values — taking place in Lövholmen, Gröndal and the surrounding area — become part of rehearsing a reimagined future neighborhood here, or of changing a city somewhere else?

What does it mean to exist and work in a place in a state of pause? Is it possible to grieve the loss of a neighborhood? How much history is it healthy to live with? How can materials from a site can carry information into its future? Where and how is it safe to have a private conversation in public space? What role can beauty or humor play in times of struggle and uncertainty?

Market Talks: New Roles, New Circulation

Arranged by @theartbystander
Artists, curators and galleries in a multi-platform art world
The first conversation looks at how artists, curators and gallerists are working in a landscape shaped by digital platforms, new forms of visibility and increasingly international networks.

Today an artwork often circulates through studio images, installation views, social media, newsletters, press coverage, fair previews and private channels before it is encountered in person. This changes not only how art is presented, but how careers develop, how attention is built and how value is mediated.

The discussion asks what is genuinely new in this system, what is simply newly visible, and which older forms of support, expertise and mediation still remain essential.

JESPER THOUR

UTAN FAKTISK FARA / HARMLESS IN REALITY

Opening reception and book release Thursday, March 26,
5–7 PM, welcome!

Jesper Thour (b. 1993, Växjö, Sweden) lives and works in Jäkkvik, Sweden. He holds a Master’s degree in Fine Arts from Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design (2021). He has since exhibited at Vandalorum Museum of Art and Design, Katrineholm Konsthall, and Ronneby Konsthall in addition to receiving the Erland Cullberg Scholarship and the Swedish Arts Grants Committee’s one-year working grant. Thour had his debut exhibition at Galleri Hedenius in May 2023. Through painting and
installation, Thour follows play – privileging the enjoyment and immediacy of making itself.

Full text by Lauren Johnson on our website.

“Finally the priest stood in the pulpit.”

’So begins Gösta Berling’s Saga by Selma Lagerlöf, not at the beginning of the story, but in the middle of things. Similarly, Jesper Thour’s exhibitions often begin in media res. The audience enters mid-current, drifting through a confluence of figures that surface and recede like fragments in a fairytale, one that doesn’t want to be told or understood in any other way than through art. If Lagerlöf’s pulpit marks a stage of moral authority and public scrutiny, a moment when the demands of a role threaten to eclipse the self, Thour’s practice lingers in a related terrain. His work orbits group belonging and the subtle violences of fitting in: the ways we reshape, mute, or divide ourselves in order to remain inside the circle.’ - Lauren Johnson

I love my sister. I love my friend @corner_stone_93 who people have thought in the past is my sister. I love @lo.etgo The Curator and best support and sweeper in the 'wrestling scene'.

We thought in many ways about disagreement for this work, and it became: an epos, an instruction, a stream of righteousness and a tent filled with dense pauses and longing. We threw in a bath tub cus why not. The title, a mis-rememberance of Chantal Akerman's erratic video work 'Blow Up My Town'.

Before last week’s storm could break, the land held its breath as Lauren Johnson arrived—horse whisperer, wrangler, and kin—having crossed seas and sky from Stockholm, Sweden, drawn by something older than the roads themselves. A calling those who come to Elk Glade know all too well.

Welcome back Cowgirl.

Welcome to OPI Lab’s Open Door Session this Thursday 15 January, 17:00-20:00.

Join us for an evening where we share food, drinks, and artistic and architectural explorations by the current OPI Lab cohort – a group of practitioners who spend ten months experimenting through multidisciplinary work with a focus on the changing neighborhood of Gröndal and the site of Lövholmen, under development into a new residential area.

At 18:30 OPI Lab participant Lauren Johnson has curated a performance by Jaana-Kristiina Alakoski, Cornelia Isaksson, and Runa Alakoski, titled Bang Up My Life. This performative moment in three acts engages guests in the space through two sister-voices, staging multiple positions of overlapping disagreement and dissensus.

Location: OPI Lab, Gröndalsvägen 1, 117 66 Stockholm
(Metro: Liljeholmen / Tram: Trekanten. Please note the space is not accessible, there are several steps).

Welcome!
