POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I finally got around to making a video of my Boston marathon qualifier! Training was tough through the summer heat, but it was all worth it! I had just came off of a sub 23 hour 100 miler and two weeks later I jumped into a 4 month marathon block consisting of 936 miles. Summer miles definitely brought fall smiles! I want to thank God for my health & strength, my wife and kids for patients & sacrifice, the #2lowerunco for putting on an incredible race experience and to Austin Murphy who ran with me and coached me on speed work! I’m looking forward to April to run in Boston!

Well, it was not my day at the @lock2lockmarathon I had hopes of just keeping a steady pace during this race and finishing in 2 hours. In hindsight, I think I was getting COVID or something else. A lot of the vague symptoms I just chalked up to peri-menopause. Poor appetite, night sweats more than normal, zombie like feeling and a slightly swollen lymph node.

The race started and I felt ok. There was a young man who paced with me and I was doing alright with the 845mm pace. At mile 5, I really had to pee...unlike me, but oh well. Thankfully there were plenty of trees....

After that, I had a really hard time and started to feel sick. I can't really describe it, but I was not well...my heart rate was through the roof and I guess I could feel it. My head didn't feel right and I kind of kept half hallucinating people.... Like thinking I recognized other runners when I didn't know anyone.
Each mile was harder and I stopped a lot. So many people asked if I was ok. I even texted Matt. I just decided that I would finish and get there when I got there.

At first I felt so embarrassed but I now realize I really wasn't well. I'm not sure what's going on but I definitely could barely push through and that's not like me. My legs felt so very heavy.

I'm still not feeling great. My head is cloudy and congested and my appetite is not back. But I'm really glad that I finished. Forward is a pace!!!

I think this could have been a great run. It's a beautiful area and everyone was wonderful.

Thank you to @2lowerunco for a putting on a great race. Maybe next year!

Some days you take a gamble… and it blows up at mile 7. 🫠

Today was far from my best performance, but I crossed that finish line with my Battlefield Babes. ❤️

And honestly, the time and the performance don’t matter nearly as much as what I showed my boys today: this mama ain’t no quitter. 💪🏼

There will be good races, bad races, and everything in between. But I’ll always be grateful for the chance to toe the line.

And yes… I still love the marathon. ❤️🏃🏼‍♀️

Well… that wasn’t the plan. 😂
Signed up for a marathon. Ran 16 miles. Officially finished the half. Collected my first DNF. And apparently donated several layers of skin from my feet to the towpath. 💀🦶
93% humidity + soaking wet feet + angry blisters = knowing when to call it.
But the BEST part of today? The people. 💛 Running friends who cheer, check on you, make you laugh when your race goes sideways, and remind you that the finish line is never really the whole point.
I seriously hit the jackpot with this running community.
Not the race I planned. Still a pretty damn good day. 🥰🏃‍♀️

Made it up to PA! I’m absolutely dead tired, though. On the way I grabbed some ice cream and stopped in Williamsport, MD to visit some friends.

Now it’s straight to bed gotta be up bright and early tomorrow!
