@locus.my revamps it’s à la carte menu, with new additions like the steak au poivre with turmeric and fluffy potatoes, handmade pasta, and seaweed bread. For dessert, try the rotating ice cream sundae (ours was ginger, cinnamon, and star anise-spiced, reminiscent of tong sui) as well as a cake inspired by @limhengkit’s time at @benshewry’s @atticamelbourne in Melbourne.

July eats continued w ayam gepuk @seminyak.kl then hi tea at @grandhyattkualalumpur. Exploring more Mont Blanc @locus.my. Checked out @cafe.conti. Had yummh nasi dagang at an art exhibition. Devoured sushi like no one’s business cause @sushiromalaysia is at OU now. @malabistronome & @jalinankl are new found TTDI gem. & Home cooked itik salai always hits the spot ✌🏼

Every birthday I think about death.

It used to be how I’ve just lost another year of time on earth, and still, nowhere close to where I want to be in life.

Fortunately, in the last few years, the script has flipped, I am where I want to be in life! Except now I start to feel the helplessness of how no goodness in life can combat the all-consuming end.

What do you mean, that all the goodness that surrounds me, all the light and love in my life, is no opponent in the face of the blackhole that is death.

I was feeling sad from the thought that in the end, nothing will matter because there will be nothing left, when my partner reminded me that death is not a black hole, but a white light.

A warm, glowing light that you and I will need to pass through.

“And do you know what’s waiting on the other side?” he asked.

A cabinet full of your favourite things—the beauty you’ve seen, the love you’ve experienced.

“So your job is to live a beautiful life,” he said, “and to create as many beautiful things as you can.”

I might have cried even more after hearing that.

That night, I told my friends the story. One friend paused and said, “Happy birthday Bree, may your cabinet be full.”

May all our cabinets be full.
