We had the pleasure of both performing in and getting our faces melted off at a George Harrison Tribute show last night with so many of our dearest music friends at @stateroompresents in Salt Lake City. Here are but a few highlights. Huge thanks to Paul Jacobsen of @madisonarm for the tremendous amount of work he put in to producing the show.❤️🙏

In a world of AI-generated everything, where every other bro’s Facebook/LinkedIn post has the same. exact. cadence. And the same. exact. structure...where almost nothing feels real anymore....where the algorithm delights in outrage and division and our worst instincts...where you can duck & dodge humanity for days on end....where connection should be easier but only feels harder....

come touch the proverbial grass with a roomful of other people

come listen to real songs, written and revised and re-revised by a real live human being (one George Harrison in this case) with sweat and oxygen and body odor and bad breath and bad days, played by real people who’ve invested hours upon hours and years upon years to master their instruments, to have an actual musical point of view, whether it’s guitars, keys, drums, voices.

come feel the bass in your chest

come experience what happens when a room full of people all get the chills at the same time

come sing along

come feel shared joy, shared sadness, shared angst, shared catharsis

come feel part of something that won’t be recorded for posterity, or autotuned/Facetuned for perfection, or re-aired in syndication to make more money; it’ll happen live on this ONE night in this ONE room (The State Room, in this case) and then it’ll be over and either you were there or you weren’t.

so...were you?

He was nicknamed The Quiet Beatle and often overlooked in the massive shadow of Lennon & McCartney, but George Harrison’s songs speak for themselves (and then some). Here Comes The Sun, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, My Sweet Lord, Something, Handle With Care, All Things Must Pass, Taxman, Within You Without You, Isn’t It A Pity…his songbook is insane. Come celebrate Harrison’s iconic Beatles, solo, and Traveling Wilburys songs with an all-star house band comprised of members of Neon Trees, Desert Noises, Fictionist, and The Lower Lights backing up an absurd lineup of singers. Who? Meg & Brady Parks (The National Parks), Mindy Gledhill, Joey St. John (Cardinal Bloom), Nate Pyfer (Pinguin Mofex), Marie Bradshaw (The Hollering Pines), Libbie Linton (Mideau), Ryan Innes, the King will come, Peter Breinholt, Mason Porter (Polytype), Mick Rudolph (Seaslak), Marcus Bently, Debra Fotheringham, Jordan Moyes, Amy Gileadi (Sunfall Festival), Talin Everett, Dominic Moore. It all happens at Velour on February 27, just two days after what would’ve been (should’ve been) Harrison’s 83rd birthday.

Found my 1st and 2nd journal from back in the day! So many memories with local musicians, mainstream artists, and musicians from American Idol. Here are some set lists, tickets stubs, and journal entries about my musician life! ❤️ I was one sappy teenager haha! And thought basically every man was hot, my gosh! Check out my other post on @aimeevconcerts about 20 more memories with music!

It was such an honor getting a call from the mystical and magical Corey Fox inviting me to the Velour’s 20-year private party. It was so much fun seeing friends I haven’t seen in years, bands I played with back in the day, and honestly just seeing everyone in the room all at once actually made me emotional. It was also such a fun night seeing so many incredible artists perform throughout the night.

The Velour is a very special place to my heart. I played some amazing shows there with my band Rated Hero, and also as a solo artist throughout the years. So many of my favorite memories as a musician live inside those walls.

I’ve always loved my friendship with Corey and his deep mind. He always has such an interesting take on everything. One of the things I love most about Corey is how seriously he takes music and art. You can feel how sacred it is to him. And that’s rare.

It’s funny — people will say, “Trey, you know Corey Fox?” And I’m like, “Yeah… he comes to my birthday parties.” 😄

The Velour is truly a staple of the Utah rock scene. It’s helped so many bands go to the next level. This isn’t just a local gig spot — it’s a vibe. It’s a place of connection.

I honestly believe music is one of the most divine things God gave us. And to me, the Velour is a divine place — bringing all walks of life together to communicate through art. I know Corey holds that sacred, too.

If you’ve never been to the Velour, you’ve gotta go in and just feel it. It really is something special.

Here’s to many more years of the Velour bringing music and opportunity to life for artists.
Thank you, Corey. I love you, brother.

And yes… imagine me hugging you way too long and putting my cheek against yours because I know it makes you wildly uncomfortable — which is exactly why I do it. 😂

Here are just some pictures from back in the day of me playing, and some pictures from the party with my friends. I wish I got pictures with everybody. It was such a gift catching up with so many wonderful people. #Music #musicvenue #provomusicscene #utahmusic #velour

I had a blast singing with these talented musicians in front of a fine crowd. I couldn’t have asked to sing a better Weezer song. #weezer #rockshow
