Oswego State Communication students were all over the top minor league baseball organizations in the region this past summer, taking what they learned in the classroom and applying it to the real world. With the Buffalo Bisons (AAA affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays) BRC majors Owen Gangloff and Brayden Peters served in media relations and game reporting roles, respectively. With the Rochester Red Wings (AAA affiliate of the Washington Nationals), journalism majors Logan Weingartner and Cameron Shutts worked in the team’s Baseball Information and Game Reporting departments, while BRC major Dylan Gilmore worked in live game broadcasts.

Is Oswego County’s Housing and Infrastructure ready for Micron?

OswegoNow reporters Cameron Shutts, Logan Weingartner and Rob Finger asked many local officials, including Fulton Mayor Jim Rice and Oswego Mayor Rob Corradino, if their cities and the county as a whole were prepared for the influx of people to the region for Micron.

Want to hear what they said? Then head to OswegoNow.net to read this and all of our stories within the special series on “The State of Central New York!”

In 2003, Ed Gosek took to the helm of Oswego State men’s hockey. 23 years, seven Frozen Four appearances, five SUNYAC titles, one national championship and a retirement later, he left the program in better shape than he found it.

“Eddie didn’t just coach hockey — he coached boys to become men,” Rick Pratt, an Oswego Athletic Hall of Fame inductee and current head of the Blue Line Club, stated.

“Eddie always had the heartbeat of our team from day one, even as an assistant coach,” Mike Lukajic, a former Laker, added.

As the fifth part of “The Gosek Era” series, read more at oswegonow.net, or by clicking the link in our bio.

Awesome treat for our JLM 312 Sports Reporting class on Friday to hear from @sunyoswego alum and ESPN lead director Matt Bishop! Not only did the group get great insights into his journey to the top of the sports media mountain, and how shows like First Take and Get Up come together, but he also capped it off taking the group on a virtual tour of the Bristol studios and control rooms.

Big thanks to Matt for sharing his time and insights as well as to @louborrelli for connecting us.

Excited to share that I will be joining SportsNet New York (SNY) this summer as a Studio Content Intern!

In this role, I’ll have the opportunity to contribute to daily studio programming, including “Baseball Night in NY” and “SportsNite,” while gaining hands on experience in research, logging, editing support, and production workflows that bring live sports coverage to air.

I’m incredibly grateful for the experiences I’ve had at SUNY Oswego through WTOP-10 TV and WNYO 88.9 FM, as well as the opportunity to work closely with the Oswego State men’s basketball program. A huge thank you to everyone involved with Oswego Basketball for their cooperation and trust, those experiences played a major role in helping me get to this point.

I’d also like to thank @zachmalamud for his guidance and support throughout the process, as well as Mike Robinson and Chris Farina for the opportunity.

Thank you as well to everyone who has supported me along the way, I truly appreciate it.

Looking forward to learning, growing, and getting started this summer!

JOB IS NOT FINISHED ‼️
