Community Care in Action! 🍂

This past Saturday, October 17, the Caribbean Equality Project continued our monthly Fall Food & Essentials Distribution in Flatbush, Brooklyn, providing food, essential resources, and care to local families. 🧅🍠🌽🥝🍎

We were also excited to welcome our friends at the New York Immigration Coalition (@thenyic), who joined us to spotlight our ongoing work!

We remain committed to advancing food justice and community care alongside our incredible partners: NYC Council Member Rita Joseph (@ritajosephnyc), New York Communities for Change – Flatbush Chapter (@ny4change), and Flatbush Mixtape (@flatbushmixtape), with the support of our dedicated community partners.

Together, we continue nourishing families and strengthening our community in Flatbush and Little Caribbean, Brooklyn. 🌱✊🏽

💫 Supported by The Campaign Against Hunger (@tcahnyc), the NYC Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs (@nycimmigrants), the NYC Mayor’s Public Engagement Unit (@mayorspeu), MetroPlus Health (@metroplushealth), and MUNA Social Services (@munassinc).

Thank you to our architectural and structural engineering team last week for helping us move forward into the phase of renovation and construction.

This project is an investment in Central Brooklyn today. A center of hope that creates a lasting impact and provides a transformative place our community can call its own for generations to come.

NYC, blow the whistle on ICE.

📢 3 short bursts: ICE sighting
📢 3 long bursts: ICE is in the process of detaining a New Yorker

After TPS for Haiti and Syria ended, we’ve been sharing ways to protect our neighbors, from Flatbush to Southeast Queens.

As one of MOIA’s Haitian Response Initiative (HRI) partners, Life of Hope provide services including free legal screenings and immigration legal help from accredited representatives, community and City resource navigation, adult classes, childcare services, and more.

We’re grateful for their longstanding partnership!

The termination of Haitian TPS will not break us. Our community is facing one of the most consequential humanitarian and family stability crises in the Haitian diaspora since the 1990s. We are urgently calling for partnership, compassion, and action.

This moment calls on We the People to strengthen and transform our community, and take greater ownership of our destiny. We will not allow fear or uncertainty to define us.

Don’t panic. And to those who are in a position to help, I respectfully ask you: lend someone a helping hand. A small act of support can make a meaningful difference for a family right now.

Help is on the way, my people. We will get through this together.

Keep the Faith & Share the HOPE.

Haitian New Yorkers are, and always will be, an integral part of our city. In response to the recent termination of TPS on August 5, Commissioner @faiza_n_ali joined @nycmayor for a roundtable discussion with Haitian community leaders to hear directly about their current needs and experiences.

We encourage impacted New Yorkers to call MOIA’s free, safe, and confidential Immigration Legal Support Hotline at 1-800-354-0354. Trained staff will connect you with trusted legal assistance in your preferred language.

We also have an updated FAQ, available in multiple languages, so New Yorkers can learn more: nyc.gov/immigrants
