🍯 Happy BC Day and Food Day Canada! 🇨🇦 This long weekend, we’re celebrating two things we love most — local food 🌾 and local communities. ❤️ Jeff and I are proud to work alongside so many passionate farmers, chefs, culinary artisans, and businesses who share our commitment to quality, sustainability, food security, and community. As beekeepers 🐝, Jeff and I know that every jar of honey 🍯 tells the story of the land, the forage, the seasons, and the hardworking communities that care for them. Supporting local isn’t just something we do—it’s our passion for life. Every time you choose local honey, you’re supporting Canadian beekeepers, strengthening local agriculture, helping protect pollinators, and investing in the future of our food system. CELEBRATE THIS WEEKEND: 🛍️ Visit your local farmers’ markets and retailers who support local 🥕 Create delicious meals with local ingredients at home 🍽️ Support restaurants who feature local ingredients on their menus 🥂 Raise a toast to the hardworking farmers, producers, chefs, beekeepers, and food artisans who nourish our communities … to the hardworking hands behind every harvest! 💛 Thank you for choosing local. Your support truly makes a difference. See link in bio/HoneyBeeZen.com for product information, market calendar, retailer list, and online ordering details. . . 🐝 Bee Amazed . . #FoodDayCanada #BCDay #BuyBC #CanadianHoney #BCBeekeepers

🐝 Celebrating our 9th Anniversary at Swan Valley Honey! Jeff and I are so grateful today – and every day! – for our team and community here in the Kootenays. 💛 We are proud that we, as beekeepers, honey producers, and industry advocates, can directly contribute to our region’s agriculture and economy. 🌱🐝 And more importantly, our community has become a big part of our everyday life since we made Creston our home. Jeff and I value the importance of showing up for neighbours and friends, and building relationships and friendships beyond our hives. A huge thanks to our team – Olha, Andrii, Bethan, Oliver and Sandra – who are as passionate and connected to Swan Valley Honey as we are. We truly couldn’t do this without you all. 💛🐝 🌻✨Thank you, Kootenay Valley, for being a part of this journey with us. We’re ready to bring plenty of more energy to keep our community – our home – flourishing, thriving and amazing! . . 🐝Bee Amazed 🐝 . . #SwanValleyHoney #crestonbc #PureHoney #beekeepers #buybc

🌼🐝 June highlights! BEE SWARM! 🐝🌳 I was minding my own beeswax walking along the road to our back shop when my sixth sense was buzzing… I looked up and low and bee-hold I spotted a swarm in the linden tree 🌿. Jeff and Andrii used a bee vac to safely relocate these bees to another hive. ________________________________________ ALL ABOARD FOR BC FERRIES 🚢🍯 Huge news! We couldn’t bee more excited to have BC Ferries order our honey for their gift shops. Olha, Bethan and I have been super busy bees packing up Tea Lovers gift packs, Fireweed honey and Kootenay Wildflower Glass Bears. If you’re sailing and spot our honey on-board, can you please share a pic? 📸 ________________________________________ SUMMER SPECIALS ☀️🍓 You’re loving this season’s infused honeys, so we keep making more: Italian Plum, Raspberry and Sea Buckthorn Berry. Only available at our Kootenay area markets for now! ________________________________________ UN-BEELIEVABLE DINNER AT KOOTENAY RIVER SECONDARY SCHOOL 🍽️✨ Loic Fauteux-Goulet, Culinary Instructor at Kootenay River Secondary School in Creston, BC (and winner of The Great Canadian Baking Show Season 7!) led his students to prepare a dinner to thank his program sponsors. Jeff and I, proud supporters, were invited to attend and were blown away by the impressive menu served! Our honey was highlighted in the Glazed Carrots and Crème Brûlée Yum. ________________________________________ BEE INSPECTOR VISIT 🐝📋 Guy Rook, the East Kootenay Bee Inspector came to visit—and he was wearing the most appropriate t-shirt! Guy once borrowed my coveted pink hive tool and thought he lost it in the field 😅. He spent hours retracing his steps looking for it! (ICYDK: Bee Inspectors monitor honeybee colony health, enforce provincial apiary regulations, and help beekeepers manage pests or diseases.) ________________________________________ MINI QUEEN MARKING TUTORIAL 👑🐝 Dave Johnson and Maggie Jones came by for a quick, personal tutorial on how to mark Queens—practicing on drones that don’t sting! . . 🐝 Bee Amazed 🐝 . #buybc #bcferries #beekeeping #purehoney #honey

🐝🌸April is an important month for beekeepers! April is when we take the warming covers – or “duvets” as I call them – off the hives and get back to really connecting with our bees to ensure success for the upcoming season. So far, our hives are looking great with healthy bees and a good survival rate over the winter. We are very happy! 😊🍯 Now we keep working with our bees towards the first honey harvest of the season in July. We can’t wait! Keep following along as we regularly share what’s happening BeeHind the Hive! 🐝📸 We’ve been busy with other activities this month, too. Here’s a quick recap 👇 . . 1. .🐝🌸🍰Hop into Spring with this heavenly Honey Cake! Celebrate the season (and your Easter gatherings!) with this golden HONEY CAKE. Loïc Fauteux-Goulet, our good friend from our Creston community and winner of The Great Canadian Baking Show, Season 7, shared this recipe with us. It is layers of pure, local goodness! 😇 Loïc is a regular visitor to our farm and very familiar with our varieties of pure, raw honey. His recommended honey for this recipe? Our Honey Bee Zen Harvest Moon and 1000 Blossoms which feature a deeper, richer flavour. New Special Season Finale Episode drops Tuesday! 🎙️ This special episode brings together three incredible Bake Off champions for a lively, heartfelt, and wonderfully nerdy deep dive into the world of competitive baking. Lisa and Cristina are joined by Peter Sawkins, winner of Great British Bake Off 2020, Laura Foo, winner of Great Australian Bake Off 2023, and Loïc Fauteux-Goulet, winner of Great Canadian Baking Show 2023. Each baker shares the winding path that led them to their respective tents, from Loïc discovering his passion through late-night Bake Off marathons, to Laura’s roots in Singaporean home baking and her pandemic baking adventures, to Peter becoming utterly captivated by the show at age ten. The bakers compare the unique rhythms of their different franchises, reflecting on the pressure, the unpredictability, and the strange comfort of baking under the watchful eye of a production crew. Together they recount the chaos, the camaraderie, the victories, the disasters, and the moments when everything just seemed to magically work in the tent (or shed!). By the end, the trio has formed a cross-continental pact: an international baking challenge club designed to push each other’s limits in the most joyful way possible. This conversation is warm, generous, and full of insights for bakers of every level. Whether you are a Bake Off fan, a home baker, or just someone who loves hearing passionate people talk about the craft they adore, this episode will make you smile. This special episode drops Tuesday, December 9th at 7pm ET | 4pm PT. All the links to listen and watch in our bio 🔗 #bakeoff #gabo #gbbo #cbcbakingshow #gcbs
