I love love LOOOOOVE richly melanated skin tones. Loved creating this vibrant look for client no.2. Because when the costume is this fabulous, the makeup has to match! 😍

Adversity isn’t a prerequisite for growth. But when modern life is increasingly engineered to make our lives easier, are we losing the effort that makes it feel rewarding?

In our series No Noise: Stories from Running Obsessives, runners describe chasing immersion, learning to sit with discomfort and building an identity through doing something that requires effort, over and over again. Specialising in stress, resilience and performance under pressure, psychologist @dr_pete_olusoga unpacks the psychology behind it all – and explains why choosing the hard way might be the point.

Get inside the minds of running obsessives to find out what it really takes to return to the road, no matter what. Link in bio.

Still pinching myself- a journey I never planned to take, clay I never planned to touch - God got me here fr.🙏🏾

I struggled to call myself an Artist at first because I wasn’t one of those kids at school scribbling all over their maths book .. but my Nanna and Mum quickly reminded me of what I used to do and make as a child-one time I made a massive mural that was on up on the dining room wall for months .. I was always making and creating ..

Taking it into acting was second nature to me and is a form of artistry ..but I didn’t think I’d find another love in creating with my hands..

The conversations I’ve had over the show, with all kinds of people-the outpour love I’ve received, the surprises! The messages, the emotions shared .. it’s all been so so heartwarming and actually unexpected if I’m honest.

It’s so reaffirming to know that the work I make resonates and feels necessary. Speaking with former hairdressers, women and men of all ages and backgrounds, it was incredible to see almost everyone recognise something of themselves in this installation, regardless of where in the world they were from. Across different countries and cultures, people found points of connection. I realised how universally recognisable this work is. It was also refreshing to share these experiences in a celebratory and nostalgic way, but also recognising the impact of colonialism..

If I haven’t said it enough, I want to give a MASSIVE THANK YOU to each and every person that I’ve interacted with in any way. The love means so much! The convos! The sharing of experiences! The tears! The Joy! The 8 bouquets of flowers?! Never received so many flowers ever in my life before 🥹

LOVE LOVE LOVE to my beautiful family and friends for always supporting me, wherever I go and in whatever I do.. 😭❤️🙏🏾

This is only just beginning! Cannot wait to take the rest of you on my journey..

BIG BIG LOVE ❤️

Had the pleasure of capturing @lois_lo_lo and the London side of ‘NO NOISE - Stories From Running Obsessives’ series for @nikerunning @huckmagazine & @tcolondon

NO NOISE: Stories from Running Obsessives explores the runners rejecting distraction, the psychology driving their obsession and why the road has become a form of resistance in a frictionless modern world.

Spotlighting two runners across three cities each: London, Paris and Berlin.

It might be after 6pm in London, but never too late for a Medal Monday post!

Despite the heat, the thirst and the aching limbs, what a blast it was to return to @officialbighalf yesterday! I only realised the day before the race that I’d last done the event in 2022, having missed 2023 as I was in Jamaica and last year as I was still recovering from surgery. The first time I did @officialbighalf was in 2020 just before the world shut down. @emancipatedruncrew was one of the first run crews that @mrhamidv approached just before he started his job leading community outreach at LME. His ambition was to make the event reflective of London and the four boroughs the event runs through.

Yesterday I looked around at the start line and had to smile to myself as I felt like it was a race that really reflected my city. The ERC family Big Half outing had grown from around 10 people in that first year to almost 50. I watched as a group from South Africa danced their way to the start, girls in hijab ready to run as the wheel chair racers whizzed by. On route I saw so many faces, abilities, friends from the various running communities that have sprung up in the last 5 years either running or cheering.

The sheer numbers attending the event across the board seems to have grown exponentially, but with that the participation from people previously unrepresented and underserved by running events has also seemed to have grown. I hope it’s born out by numbers and not just my perception. As it makes me hopeful that the idea that running is for everyone is getting closer to becoming true. One event at a time.

It was a full house again for our Keynote Debate “This house believes artificial intelligence should replace traditional clinical teaching in medical education”. Both with compelling and well-crafted arguments, Dr Lorainne Tudor Car spoke for the proposition and Dr Lois Haruna-Cooper for the opposition.

In the end, the final poll remained strongly against but the proposition did manage to more than triple their supporters.

Many thanks to both speakers (who were exemplary!) for delivering a thought-provoking and enjoyable session.
