Where does Giorgio Locatelli actually eat in London?

Ahead of his return to our screens on Celebrity MasterChef, we asked one of London’s most celebrated Italian chefs to hand over his little black book of the city.

From the restaurant he returns to again and again to his favourite pub, coffee shop, neighbourhood, food shop and hidden gem, these are Giorgio Locatelli’s favourite places to eat, drink and spend time in London.

Serel Yereli has called London home for the past eight years, but her favourites take us far beyond the city.

From early mornings at Kuro Coffee and long walks through Hampstead Heath to seafood shacks in Scotland, bookstores in Edinburgh and summer days in Oxford surrounded by cows, music and people swimming in the river.

She admits the UK might not be the first place a Turkish person thinks of for great food 😅 but give her fresh scallops, lobster or fish and chips and she’ll happily make an exception.

Some places made the list because they’re good. Others because they hold a memory, a feeling, or, in Serel’s words, that very specific “countryside youth romance” energy.

There’s something in the water in London’s dining scene 🐟

Or should we say, out of the water? A trend we’re seeing emerge is fishmongers opening dine-in counters serving super-fresh seafood.

Here are our favourites so far – and we’ll be keeping a close eye on this one to see if this trend stays afloat.

Perfect pre footie dinner seeing these two @winey_thespian and @jac_and_forth at @londonshellco ! Outside tables and an overdue visit. The last time I saw co-owner Harry Lobek was 5 years ago when London Shell was still a floating restaurant at Regent's Canal with legends @bertblaize @doggandbeaune @wieteket - Harry could even remember what we all drank 🤯.

That's an indication he's not just a restauranteur and seafood guy. (They've already had @gilescoren give them a plug on IG so go check it out). 🍽️ 🐟

Now a neighbour place in Highgate which triples as fishmonger, restaurant and wine shop it is safely said to have a love of wine. Single bottle list of top producers (spotted Cotat, Bruyere Houillon, Des Tours, Commando G plus plus) and the standard list they have done themselves giving it individuality full of their own discoveries of wines that give bang for their buck and bottles they can speak about passionately. 🥂🍷

Top dish the Ajo Verde, Devon Lobster and Melon - a twist using pistachio and so tasty. 🦞

Go and hang here for a lunch or dinner. It's a must.
