#THEBOULE: Can these Young Men Keep up? I don’t 👀 know 🤷🏼‍♀️! Call us “The New Kids at the Boule”, trying to shake-up South African Style at the annual picnic! What fun We had! So many wonderful faces returned including Congressman Charles Rangel, Carl & Joyce Brown McCall, The Getachew’s, Dawn Hankin & The Turnipseeds! Thanks to my HU Bison Alum Lewis Long for bringing my dance partners who happen to be my Son’s mates in College! I think we cut up the rug! (Is that the expression?) What do you think? Thanks to member-hubby Marc Morial for bringing me!

One of the most special days of my life occurred yesterday. 5/29/22 My son was baptized at @woffamily church in front of both of his married parents, both of his married grandparents, his grandfather, both of his God parents, his baby brother, all of his Aunties, his Uncle & ALL of his favorite cousins… what makes all the more sacred is the fact that he asked to be baptized. @robynisblessed & I are blessed to be his parents and I will LIVE for them. Before service ended, we dedicated my neice @orionharpermilton with entire family standing in at the end of service. My heart is so FULL. This point in my life is LOVE like I’ve never experienced. Im certain My children will be my greatest accomplishment. I want to continue to walk in this Light & assist them in the discovery of the purpose that God has for them. 🙏🏾Amen🙏🏾🥹🥲

I had the pleasure of going to @154artfair over the weekend. It was my first time and I really enjoyed it. 1-54 art fair showcases art from Artist that are African and its diaspora.

I met so many dope people and I can’t wait to connect with them in the future. Here are a few of my favorite from the fair.

When I first heard that @154artfair was going to be held in #Harlem I was beyond thrilled and then when I learned that my grrrl @novellaford was selected as the #Curator for this global fest celebrating contemporary art from Africa and the African diaspora, I locked in May21-22 and blocked my schedule. Well lemme tell you, this Fair did not disappoint! I reconnected with some of my fave curators and met so many amazing Black artists from around the globe and got my whole entire art life snatched in the best of ways! I have so much more to say, but I'll just start with these pics from yesterday's private home tour exploring the collection of my neighbor and serious art fiend #SydneyKaiInis. Her home had more exciting works, including pieces by Dindga McCannon (@dindga),
#FrankWimberley, John E. Rozelle, and #KehindeWiley, than most galleries I've visited. And check out her dress. She had it made from fellow neighbor @harlemtoilegirl's #harlemtoile bedding collection that she copped so many moons ago at the @studiomuseum. Can we say style genius!?! One thing she said yesterday that really stuck with me was that she collected art she loved from PEOPLE she loved" and how this not only created an accessible pathway to collecting art for her (ie. flexibility to pay in installments over time), but it created a nexus of endurance for burgeoning Black artists trying to make a way in a largely inaccessible art industry. So Harlem, so good! Shout-outs to Novella and to @artnoirco for this incredible event.

Medium Tings Gallery don’t you love the name?

Austin based artist @barnes_artistry__ is a creator who describes herself this way:

I create knowing fact holds the key to truth
I create a presence in female forms, vessels, lines, and voids
I create with hard dust, cloth, string, and erasers
I create with agency…

Her works were shown in an amazingly curated space by Stephanie Baptist, gallery director of Brooklyn based @mediumtings a roving gallery and project space. Baptist exhibited her works @154artfair in Harlem. Here she tells you about Barnes’ work done in fibre and charcoal with ‘free motion’ sewing that creates her female subject’s hair. These had been snapped up by the second day of the show.
