In early May, members of @radiuscollective were invited to the @mfacdtxst Program at Texas State University, sharing the keynote presentation and leading an all-day workshop with their graduate students. Informed by our own collective practice, the workshop consisted of a series of multimedia design prompts that resulted in collaborative installations in their FL3X Gallery. Super grateful for the welcoming TxSt Comm Design team (especially Emmy Belsole) who took care of us in San Marcos, and for the super engaged students who were all in throughout the event. 📷 by Radius Collective and @libbyallenphotography

Two weeks ago members of @radiuscollective were invited to @mfacdtxst to lead the spring residency programming. Over 2 days Radius Collective provided student critiques, presented a keynote, and lead a 1 day conceptual design making workshop, Prompt. We had a blast working with and getting to know graduate students during the weekend.

@radiuscollective were guests at the @mfacdtxst residency in San Marcos Texas this month! We had the pleasure of attending student crits, guest lecturing throughout the semester, giving the keynote presentation at the residency, and collaborating with the MFA students on a big process-based exhibition.

The exhibition theme was “distance,” and each member of RC contributed a prompt interpreting the concept in a different way. @ck_field and I designed the prompt for a type and audio installation, and the participants brought it to life in a beautiful/wild wall of words and accompanying soundtrack.

Grateful to @josh_dutt and @mfacdtxst faculty staff and students for this special experience

Today Radius Collective leads graduate students at @mfacdtxst through a day of making. “Prompt” is collaborative workshop that explores the theme of distance through rapid design prompts and experimental making activities that investigate mapping, translation, and movement. By the end of the day, participants transform their collective experiments into a collaboratively designed exhibition assembled on-site.

“An Inventory, Dissection, and Roast of the Closet of a 37-year old Mom”
@longnamedesign

A senseless, highly detailed and still somewhat inaccurate archive of all the clothes in my closet takes a nostalgic path down memory lane, rediscovers past favorites, obliterates my self confidence, trudges up shameful body-image issues, and scolds for doing so.

Not only does it tell an ugly story of overconsumption and hyperbolic self-criticism, it also highlights a mom holding on to past lives for too long, and finally trying to let go.
