Reintroducing Jessi Ellen Photo.

I’ve been photographing weddings and people all around Oregon and beyond for over a decade now. Over the years, the thing that has always remained the same despite the trends that have come and gone is my love for people. A love for documenting them, preserving feeling and tiny details of human interaction.

I’ve done a lot of Soul searching about what Jessi Ellen Photo represents. I love an editorial moment and I love pushing boundaries when it comes to posing and traditional portraits. But the heart of what I do has always been about remembering how it all felt.

I’m sentimental to a fault and can get nostalgic about something that happened literally yesterday. I know how quickly the present becomes something we wish we could go back to and I love that photographs can take you right back to exactly how life felt at that time.

I realized the feeling I’ve spent so much of my life trying to preserve is exactly what I want my photos to give other people. That’s what I want my art and Jessi Ellen Photo to represent.

I create future nostalgia.

To all the couples I haven’t met yet, I can’t wait to create some future nostalgia with you. Let’s make photos you’ll want to come back for the rest of your lives.

Rachel and Ethan’s Mount Pisgah Arboretum wedding was full of details that meant something. From the handmade chuppah and ceremony canopy created with pieces of lace from their friends and family to the incredible florals designed by the groom’s sister-in-law, every part of the day reflected the people who love them.

One of the coolest parts of being a wedding photographer is getting to experience different cultures, traditions, and the moments that make each wedding unique. The Hora is always one of my favorite parts of a Jewish wedding to photograph. I also always look for ways to make the photos I create feel specific to the wedding I’m documenting. Incorporating the shards of glass from the breaking of the glass into their detail photos felt like a meaningful way to preserve part of their story beyond the ceremony itself.

For a day that was supposed to be full of rain, it ended up feeling exactly like Rachel and Ethan: warm, welcoming, and full of light.
