@galerialeyendecker presents "Ay Bendito", a group exhibition that marks a new chapter for the contemporary art gallery following a series of space renovations.
The title of the exhibition, “Ay Bendito,” is drawn from a traditional Puerto Rican phrase used to express warmth, affection, tenderness, and joy when encountering something beautiful, special, or endearing. True to its name, the group exhibition is curated to evoke a spontaneous, positive emotional connection with visitors, inviting them to pause and appreciate authentic artistic connections. This summer I had the privilege to be part of the HELLO NEW YORK! 2026 cohort in the @curatorialprogram 🙌 led by @natalia.viera & @carmenferreyra .
After becoming a mother, keeping up with career, art practice, even socializing is a new challenge that I continue on learning everyday how to do it all. (You know the village secret)

In the art world landscape, specially in the competitive NYC, sometimes it can feel isolating and overwhelming. This program brought a new warm community, strategy and tools to push forward and to do into what makes sense for each of us. Sometimes knowing where to look and where to not spend time in is one of the best approaches. And the support and the great feeling to feel understood.

☎️NOW the @curatorialprogram has a new open call for the Nordic Countries. Please visit their bio for info and apply. Deadline is TOMORROW! ⏰

Thank you so much CPR and a BIG hug 🫂 to all the incredible artists and curators of our 2026 group. Thank you for been so special, warm, loving and supportive 🥰😘😘

Two weeks of wandering around New York with fellows at @curatorialprogram and another finished notebook.

Presentations in classrooms. Public transit, of course delayed. Lunches and dinners in Chinatown and Brooklyn. Serious discussions about artists’ lives, and quick chats about random finds. Summer rain. Humid floors and heated ground. A city that somehow feels both familiar and fresh.

Everyone in New York seems to be carrying an endless to-do list. This residency offered some slower moments where conversations could finally unfold. Maybe there is more to come.

Thank you 🩵 Natalia, and Carmen, for creating such a thoughtful experience, and for bringing together such a lovely group of people and places.

Gracias! What a sweet start to the summer ✌️(^.^)🍧

Get to know our Hello New York, 2026 cohort!

💫💫💫

Livia Ortiz Ríos (@lor_studio) is a Puerto Rican artist based in New York City. Through abstraction, her work explores fragmentation, transformation, and tensions between chaos and order using oil painting on plexiglass, wood, ceramics, and mixed media installation. Her layered compositions investigate transparency, shadow, and spatial relationships as active elements that challenge fixed structures and hierarchies. Ortiz has exhibited in the United States, Puerto Rico, Colombia, and internationally, including at NYLAAT, ProxyCo Gallery, Embajada Gallery, and the Museum of Art of Puerto Rico. She has participated in residencies in Spain, Colombia, and New York.
