You thought I forgot friendship Fridays, huh?

Nope.

This is my guy, Lorin. I had known of him from a far for a year or more because our kids go to the same school, but then we struck up a conversation while each of us waited to give a personal testimony about the school. Shortly into the conversation I knew there was something special about this dude. First off, he is one of the best listeners I know... He doesn't just listen, he hears you. On top of that he's open and shares from his heart. He also embodies Brooklyn to me - they say "Spread love! It's the Brooklyn way" but Brooklyn is also about unique art and that's Lorin too.

This is a bio he shared with me when he did a story for Unreeling Storytelling back in February, but like everyone I know he's way more than can be described in a short bio. Much respect for this man!

Lorin was born in New York City, but moved to St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands around fourth grade. There on the island, his Grandmother raised him until he returned to NYC. Lorin has lived in New York for about 20 years. He and his wife reside in Brooklyn with their three incredible children. He worked behind the camera in television news for about a decade, mostly in New York for a major network. He is a creative spirit, so his interest in working in television stemmed from his aspirations to work in front of the camera, as an actor one day. More recently, he has dedicated most of his time to being a Stay at Home Father. This year all of his kids will be off to school, so he is shifting his focus back to his passions. His time with his children has taught him a lot about life and himself and has inspired him to go after what he loves. He is hopeful that, this time, he will end up on the other side of the camera.

What are YOU good enough to do?
.
The truth is you are good enough to do everything you're afraid to try. And that's actually the scary part—its scary to believe in yourself so much that you enter a space where you have no limitations and only just need to take uncomfortable action to move forward.
.
Not even a year ago, I sat down with my friend Jenn on a video chat (I wish I had that video). I told her about my IDEA to tell a story at @mothstories, and she turned my idea into an uncomfortable action. Sure enough I CAN do exactly what I was afraid to try.
.
This year I sat down with Jenn on another video chat (which I'm glad I have a recording of this time). I told her about my idea to pull a book out of my soul. Once again she's set me on a path to begin the uncomfortable actions, so I'm sure I'll be back again soon with how I was able TO DO exactly what I was afraid to try. But this time while I take action I wanted to share Jenn with you - how selfish would it be for me to keep getting all this inspiration and encouragement and not share it with you?
.
Jenn is offering her one-on-one sessions at a pay-what-you-can sliding scale of $35-$85, and I highly suggest you doing a session before April ends. I recommend it so much that for the first 3 of my people to comment, "I'm in" below I'll buy you your first session.
.
If you're one of those people that are like, "I don't do life coaching," I wouldn't really describe it as coaching as much as I would describe it as "someone who listens to the whispers from your soul and turns them into a shouting in real life." I guess that makes her a soul whisperer 🤷🏾‍♂️💪🏾.
.
If I'm tagging you it's because I see a light from your soul that I want the world to see (and I want to give you a head start on my offer 👆🏾).

This past week was an amazing week filled with a bunch of stuff I love to do—teaching storytelling to kids, sharing my life and emotions through story (3 new stories in one week), watching a friend tell her first story at the Moth, and starting my own storytelling show with a friend.
.
There are so many people who helped me this past week I wanted to stop to say, "thank you! Again." Most likely if you're reading this you impacted me positively in some way this past week...whether it was through offering encouragement, congratulations, prayers, cheers, or simply by not being negative lol.
.
There are a few people who went above and beyond:
.
@matthewdicks for helping me find 3 stories out of 2, pointing out the key elements, giving tips for my show, sharing ideas to keep the storytelling momentum going, and for just being a good friend.
.
@snickers.nyc for showing up to my show and taking over all the things my brain was too scattered to do while also recognizing when I needed to breathe and laugh.
.
@thewomanityproject for providing some last minute stage coaching and tech.
.
@jayfuf15 for getting the show of the ground with me.
.
@mothstories for giving me a place to connect within the storytelling world and encouraging me to keep going.
.
@ecuadorcenter for providing a safe space to be vulnerable.
.
@rpenty for letting me get on your stage and share my life at your show.
.
@the_wza for always having kind words to say about my stories (even when I think they're trash) and for checking in on how I'm doing as a person.
.
To all my Storytellers who went with me on the new show journey even though I didn't really know what I was doing.
.
To one other person who I know wouldn't want to be tagged, but deserves a big thanks for supporting almost everything I do.
.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
.
Let's do it all over again soon!
