Highlighting the Conditions in Detention Centers for Pregnant Mothers Edith Romero, a passionate organizer and journalist, brings attention to the challenging conditions encountered by pregnant mothers in detention centers. To read the full article, scan the QR code or visit the coalition’s website at SEDNDCO.ORG. It is crucial to understand that the effects of detention reach far beyond the confines of these facilities, impacting the families left behind. We invite you to support mothers outside of detention centers by contributing to our pantry through our registry on our website. The community STILL stands united in opposing and canceling the contract for the opening of the women and children detention center in Alexandria; mothers and children should not endure this suffering. WE MUST PROTECT THEM.

One month is not enough time to fully recognize the influence that Latino and Hispanic cultures have had in the United States. This month, we celebrate our neighbors, their history, and the importance of diversity in this country. We also honor those who are fighting for justice and equal representation. We would like to highlight the following nonprofit and grassroots organizations that are part of the fight to ensure the safety of our neighbors. These communities are disproportionately targeted and affected by government policies and organizations and as such, we must work to help and protect them. Fuck ICE, help vulnerable communities, and always work to ensure a better world. #hispanicheritagemonth #hhm

What a powerful evening at 'Together in Resistance: Building a Future Beyond ICE'. Thank you @amnestyusa for creating space to elevate the experiences of our immigrant communities - especially for those of us often overlooked in the South - exposing long-standing harm and helping ensure these injustices are seen, heard, and documented. What a meaningful way to honor community resilience and push accountability forward. The work continues, and we’re grateful to be in it together. ✊🏽#abolishICE You can read Amnesty International’s full report, We Had Whistles, They Had Guns: Human Rights Violations in U.S. Immigration Enforcement Operations and the Case to Abolish ICE in the link in bio.

‼️Keep taking action! ICE is preparing to open a new family and child detention center in Louisiana at the England Airpark adjacent to the Alexandria International Airport, which is already notorious as ICE’s busiest mass deportation hub. Communities across Louisiana and the country strongly oppose the opening - join us to stop it! Local communities are attending the England Airpark Board meeting to demand the board cancel the contract with ICE for the new family and child detention facility. ➡️Send letters to your elected officials in solidarity! bit.ly/nofamilydetentionLA ➡️Follow @SEDNDco for local updates and to support local organizing efforts

In Alexandria, Louisiana, the government wants to open a new 528-bed detention facility for families and children on a former military base with some of the highest levels of toxic "forever chemical" contamination ever found on a military site. Tell England Airpark: cancel the contract. No child or family belongs in jail or on contaminated land. #FamiliesBelongTogether
