Today is Day of the Zebra 🦓

I wanted to reflect on what you see at first glance of someone with EDS and what you don’t see the real reality of someone with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome

You don’t see the chronic pain that never fully goes away.
The life that can be hanging in the balance. The joints slipping in and out all day.
You don’t see the exhaustion that rest doesn’t fix.
You don’t see the brain fog, dizziness, nausea, or racing heart.
You don’t see the injuries that happen without warning.
You don’t see the constant planning, pacing, and calculating energy.
You don’t see the grief of losing the body you once had.

What you do see is someone smiling, masking, showing up when they can, and pushing through more than you’ll ever know.

You don’t see the pain that comes after.
You don’t see the exhaustion behind the effort.
You don’t see the recovery it takes just to show up.

What you see is the moment.. not the cost.

Although most days we may feel alone, days like this remind us that we will always have each other.
Today and every day, we dazzle together. 🦓✨ I would like to thank these gorgeous warriors for taking part, showing a snippet of their reality. I encourage everyone to check them out in the tags below 🦓❤️

One of my favourite things about this community is having the privilege to come across so many incredibly strong resilient women who spend their time uplifting one another. Today i hope you ladies take some time out to reflect on everything you are and everything you continue to overcome.. it’s not easy being a woman but add the challenges and obstacles that chronic illness brings just makes things that little more difficult.. so here’s to us girlies! Never ever change. 💞✨ I’d like to give a little shoutout in the tags to just a few of the women on here that continue to inspire me everyday. Where there is a woman there is magic.. ✨Happy international women’s day💞
