An evening to remember. A milestone worth celebrating. 🤍

On Friday, 16 October, we celebrated a special chapter in Strathearn Hill’s story, our VIP launch and the unveiling of our first completed designer home.

An evening like this is made memorable by the people and the thoughtful details that bring it all together.

A special thank you to Trevor from Lost Boy Wines @lostboytrev @lostboywines , who treated our guests to an exceptional wine-tasting experience. From the beautiful wines to the stories and passion shared behind each glass, it was a wonderful addition to the evening.

To @cor_smart_comfort_cuisine , thank you for the delicious food, so thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented.
To @bowtie_evolution_ , for creating such an elegant and welcoming setting through your beautiful décor and attention to detail.
And to @creativekilowatt , for the music that brought warmth and atmosphere to the celebration.
Each of you played an important part in making the evening so special.

Beyond the celebration, this milestone represents the dedication of many remarkable people.

Our heartfelt gratitude to Frans and Anelda Bouwer, whose vision, commitment and belief continue to shape Strathearn Hill. @bouwer_frans @aneldabouwer

To @tau_pele for the countless hours spent bringing our first home to completion; @smit_architects for the beautiful and thoughtful architecture; @auspicious_interiors for the beautiful staging and bringing the home to life; and BCT Landscaping, for shaping the surrounding gardens.
Thank you for your exceptional work.

Thank you also to @think__digital_ who has been with us every step of the way and for bringing the event together. Thank you to our property practitioners @_voniq_ and @wendyhaupt , @vickygrobler from My Home Loans, and every engineer, builder, contractor and individual who has contributed behind the scenes.

To everyone who joined us, thank you for celebrating this meaningful moment with us.

What began as a vision is becoming a place to call home. And this is only the beginning.

“Is this profitable?”

“Can you scale?”

“Why aren’t you in bottle shops?”

Guys, I’m doin’ well 🙏

I don’t reckon I’ll buy a boat anytime soon. But I wake up each day and get to put my full effort into making the best wines possible.

There’s no sales department, marketing people, or directors here taking away from that single effort.

We’re just growing grapes and making wine 🥂

It’s the only focus and I think you’ll taste it in the wines.

This simple life has me both on my bike and in the vineyards every day of the week.

I’m doin’ well 🥂

✨🍷 Our first little soirée in Ballito… and what a way to start! 🍷

We hosted our first intimate soiree at our new home for 12 very special friends and invited @lostboytrev @lostboywines to take us through his spectacular private wine tasting.

We’ve been long-time fans of Lost Boy Wines, so having Trevor here to share his wines and the story of his journey from California to South Africa, made the evening even more special. 🇺🇸🇿🇦 Details on how to book a private tasting on his website.

With my hubby having spent most of his life in California, he was especially excited to see Trevor again. And the wines? Absolutely fabulous.

A little tip if you’re booking a private tasting: pre-order some wine to be delivered beforehand. That way, once the tasting is over, you can keep enjoying your favourites with dinner. Trust me, you’ll want to! 😉

For the evening, I served each guest a mini welcome cheese board 🧀🪤perfect for having something to nibble on while tasting.

I also bought wine glass markers so everyone could label their own glass. Such a simple little idea, but with a group of 12, it means nobody is wandering around trying to figure out which glass is theirs! 😂🍷 And it’s also a fun way to remember everyone’s names.

And, of course, the entire evening was 100% gluten-free. 🌿

Rather than bringing in a caterer, I decided to do everything myself, prepping, cooking, baking and plating the entire menu. It was a lot of work, but seeing everything come together and knowing that every single bite was safely gluten-free made it completely worth it. ❤️ Good wine, good food, great friends and a very special evening at home. ❤️🍷

Thank you, Trev, for bringing the Lost Boy story to our table. We absolutely loved having you here!

We’ve been fostering this little rescue Greyhound for a few months now. The poor guy has a lot of trauma and quite a rough past.

But I’ll go ahead and soft launch him into our life now… because I don’t think this oke is going anywhere.

I reckon we’re keeping him.

My wife was walking him yesterday and a friend drove by. He phoned me and said ‘for the first time, he understands when people say dogs look like their owners’.

He thought he was making fun of me, as the thin American cyclist.

But I love it.

This guy IS speed. And he’s a lot more 🥂

Excited to introduce y’all to the new winery dog - Dobby.

He’s a very kind boy.

Don’t challenge him to a race, though.

Five courses. Five wines. One winemaker.

On 28 August, Lost Boy Master Winemaker Trevor DeRuisé joins us at The Northcliff for an evening of wine, food and story — five courses, five pairings, poured and presented by the man who made them himself.

Swipe to see the full tasting menu: springbok tartare, seared beef tataki, butter-poached monkfish, grilled kudu loin, and a stone fruit and blue cheese finale — each course matched glass for glass with the Lost Boy range.

Make hay while the sun shines 🍷

With the farm quiet and the mornings chilly, a little wintertime barrel work fits perfectly and is best paired with a sunrise.

As of right now, Malbec and Syrah are the two biggest standouts from the 26 vintage.

Things are young. But set a date in your calendar for 4 years from now to come taste and see how my predictions went 🙏

I’m feeling good 🥂
