It’s World Mental Health Day which makes it the perfect day to share some of the glimmers from Burst at ITAC8 in Belgium.

Burst was inspired by one of my lockdown glimmers, I used to blow giant bubbles off my balcony and watch them float across the estate.
It was such a dark time, full of fear but watching bubbles floating through the sky felt really calming. I loved seeing how high and far they could go and imagined other people seeing them and hopefully smiling.

We’ve been so lucky to take Burst to some incredible spaces over the last few years- festivals, hospitals, rooftops, playgrounds and @desingelartscentre in Antwerp for ITAC.

And in a way @itac_collab is where it all began, when I attended a presentation by the brilliant Jean E Taylor and the @lincolncenter education team exploring accessibility and I realised that the space they had created for us was the first time I hadn’t been masking throughout the conference. Afterwards, chatting with Jean I cried explaining the relief I felt and how grateful I was for the space her and @brycedance had created.
That teary chat became the start of something… we’ve been working together over zoom for the last four years exploring global disability culture, meeting up in person in New York and Belgium. All while I was working away here on developing Burst and providing a space for other neurodivergent people to be themselves in amongst the chaos of everyday life.
I love that I got to take Burst back to one of the places that inspired it and share it with the ITAC community.

Burst’s Belgium dates were supported by @madeinscotland_showcase @creativescots @loudertogether2026 @desingelartscentre

LAUVEMETENDER is one year old ✨
What did I achieve for now?

September 2025: I released PLAY HARD, my first song.
A frontal rock punch. Very spontaneous. Very me. Very let’s see what happens

Then I started playing live. A lot !
Because I’d rather be a musician than an influencer.
I mean… I’m probably not influencing that many people anyway…

First show at Silly — thank you Pablo! — followed by a competition

Or, more accurately: a failure

It hurt. A lot. I’m annoyingly good at taking failure personally (I know, I’m a sad girl who pretend to be happy all the time)

But one year later, I can see what it gave me: a stronger band, people who actually stuck around, and music that got a little heavier, weirder and less predictable

Apparently I was too pop for rock anyway 😈 just compromise and chill, guys

Then Botanique, where I basically stripped the songs down to their bones (hello @thisisdeepseadiver)
Guitar, voice, duo, solo… I discovered I could actually do things without hiding behind a wall of guitars

I played guitar & voice at Het Depot — and somehow they’re letting me come back with the full band on 22/10, crazy huh ?!

Released THE WORLD IS FINE and learned how to make Reels (I said « learned » ..)
Still waiting for the 10 million views. Any day now 👀

Got some love from JAM just before the radio ended — I was this 🤏🏻 close to becoming a star 🥲

I played bars, venues, festivals, churches…
even before friends at La Madeleine (coucou @roriwithi)

I became increasingly bilingual
Or tweetalige, as I like to say. I’m THAT cool, I know

And then somehow: Suikerrock → church → Ancienne Belgique (keep searching for the logic)

Within one year

What the fuck

So, yeah:

2 songs released
26 shows played
A lot of guitars (preferably @st_vincent x @ernieball x @music_man ‘s one)
A lot of learning
A few failures
And absolutely no idea what I’m doing. Just vibing

Happy one year, LAUVEMETENDER 🖤

Recently some of our AITA/IATA Youth members volunteered at the Louder Together Festival in Antwerp, Belgium. This was an incredible opportunity for the AITA/IATA Youth. We loved meeting new people, experiencing plays from different countries and reuniting with our group again! Louder together was a 10 day festival that gathers young performers from many different countries, their aim was to “demonstrate that arts programs are safe and brave spaces where young people can build confidence in their artistic abilities and feel empowered to express themselves creatively”. #youththeatre #loudertogether

Hey team, apologies for being inactive!! I’ve been in Belgium representing New Zealand on the big stage 🎭

Here’s the makeup look I created for our piece ‘The Ground Remembers Us’, using grease paint. I love makeup that can change and adapt on stage to change the character - swipe to see before and after the show!

Looking forward to getting back into regular work 🫶

On August 26th, TAP Director @dalenovella traveled to Antwerp, Belgium for the 8th biennial International Teaching Artist Collaborative’s conference. On day 3 of the conference Dale facilitated an interactive session sharing findings from TAP’s white paper, “A Career, Not a Gig.” The workshop invited participants to connect the paper to real-world strategies. Actionable approaches for the global field to better support teaching artists’ careers were generated amongst participants from all over the world!

Cantonese Language / Macau

Based on the #Hungarian writer Ágota #Kristóf's play The Monster, this piece is a bleak fable about #human #desire and #destruction.

A monster appears silently in a village. The terrified villagers resolve to destroy the unknown being. However, its intoxicating #fragrance slowly seduces them all, replacing their fear with growing obsession. A young man Robert sees the true #danger. He refuses to succumb and launches a determined #campaign to #exterminate the creature.

His actions lead to a final confrontation. At the end of the tale, the question remains: does Robert conquer the monster, or does its pervasive allure conquer the world through the enthralled villagers?

Wat een geweldige kans! ✍️
