We’re thrilled to introduce our Newly Elected members—a talented group of 15 artists selected from the 31 impressive applications received this Fall. Out of the 15 accepted, 10 were able to attend the Holiday Party and receive their certificates in person. The Holiday party at the Lakehouse in Pickering, Ontario, on November 24th, was a fantastic evening filled with engaging introductions, good food, and a captivating presentation by guest speaker Michael Dumas, a renowned Canadian wildlife artist.
A sincere thank you to @gartlanmary and past President @marissasweetart that organized the event, and to SCA President @manny_schulz who flew from Manitoba to give an engaging presentation! Deepest gratitude to everyone who attended and contributed to the success of the event. Let’s continue to celebrate art and talent together! 🎨 #NewElectedMembers #ArtCommunity #societyofcanadianartists #sca #CelebrateTalent

Louise Scott-Bushell is a Canadian-born artist who paints en plein air and in the studio. She is inspired by a diverse range of subject matter and the opportunity to utilize different techniques. Exploring daily the conservation lands behind her home, Louise carries her camera to capture things that catch her attention - the light, the shadows, the colours, textures, abstract shapes, reflections or maybe the mood of a landscape - and then she paints them in a way that works to recreate the feeling for the viewer. Mostly painting with oils in a representational realism style, she glazes with layers of thin oil paint to produce the subtle changes that are close to realism and add depth to the painting.

Congratulations to Louise on achieving her AFCA status! Her piece "Imagine" and two others are currently on view as part of the 2022 Success! Fall Exhibition, celebrating the artistic success of our newest signature members.
