Had an absolute blast as this week’s guest speaker at the Glazer Children’s Museum’s Camp Imagination.📚✨

Spent the afternoon talking about the love 💕 of being a children’s author and the art of storytelling. Seeing the young faces light up when reading our books, talking about the creative process and watching videos of how our very talented illustrator @aduahc brought Lovable Lucy and the other characters to life was priceless.🥰☺️

And of course, the video of our sweet real life Lovable Lucy was a huge hit with the campers. 🐶

Thank you to the camp organizers for having us. Keep dreaming and writing, budding storytellers! 🌈🌟✍️

We’re celebrating the very, very beginning of our book 📚 journey.

15 years ago today real life Lovable Lucy was welcomed into her furever home. 🏠

With a darling, calm ☺️ disposition, Lucy spread happiness and love 💗 wherever she went, so everyone, appropriately, started calling her Lovable Lucy!

Lucy greeted everyone she met with tail wags and licks, even letting folks she’d just met rub her two floppy ears.

We are thrilled Lucy continues to spread love 🥰 and kindness through the children’s book’s 📚 that bare her name.

#petgrief is a weird grief. Sometimes I come home and I miss the sound of Lucy’s little collar charms jingling. Sometimes I eat fish and I miss her sitting, waiting patiently for a bite.

The video was taken a few days after we put Lucy down. When Dad and I went to pick up her remains, the sky opened up as we drove back to my parents’. It felt like Lucy was letting us know she made it to the other side.

The second slide was taken last week. I got to spend a whole day with my parents, all 3 of us together, a rarity. I looked up at the sky after we’d been talking about how much we missed Lucy, and there she was checking in on us.

I think life, mortality, and circle of life are mysterious, they’re haunting. But it warms me and comforts me to think that those who we love and who love us back get to stay in touch with us when their physical presence is gone. #grieftalk

We lost our sweet girl, our very Lovable Lucy one year ago today. 365 days ago, at this exact moment of posting, I was laying on the floor fresh off a last minute pair of flights home to say goodbye.

I’d never seen death before. I’d seen before and after, but never the moment itself. Lucy gave us her all. Obedience, temperament, love, and loyalty, they were there right to the end.

I threw a Bark Mitzvah for Lucy’s 13th birthday in March of last year, not knowing it would be her last. She loved loved loved loved loved candles. Candles usually meant she was getting a cookie or toy afterwards! She’s our fuzzy Cantor and loved singing along to birthday songs and Hanukkah prayers. I lit her last birthday candle right at midnight and sang to her. She wasn’t sick yet. Her trip to LA was the last time I saw her as herself, and I aim everyday to remember her this way and not how she was as her health declined, but grief and pity to horrible things to the psyche, especially when animals and all their innocence and earnest are involved.

We miss you Lucy.

Good friends are hard to find, harder to leave and impossible to forget.

We recently said goodbye 💔 to our beloved four legged friend Ollie, the inspiration for Lovable Lucy’s fictional friend Mellow Bellow.

Ollie, like Bellow, was a gentle giant with a loving heart that equaled his size. He loved to lay by his front door, basking in the sun’s rays and enjoyed watching all the neighbors walk by. When Ollie let out his deep bellowing barks, real life Lovable Lucy would immediately stand up as if she was reporting to army duty.

Above all Ollie was a true friend and loyal companion who’s presence is already missed by the many who loved and adored him.

We hope @lovablelucy_cavapoo and Ollie are reunited over the Rainbow 🌈 Bridge basking in the sunshine like they used to do together.
