This Children’s Day, I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have joined @lovealwaysmatea (@matea.mahal) on her visit to Sophie’s Place. 🩵✨

Spending time with these beautiful children was a powerful reminder that even in the midst of challenges - childhood innocence, resilience, warmth, and joy can still shine so brightly. Their strength, their smiles, and the love they so freely shared were deeply moving.

It also serves as a necessary reflection for all of us: our children are often a mirror of the environments we create for them. The way they behave, communicate, and see the world is shaped by the adults around them. If we want better for our children, we must first choose better for ourselves, leading by example in how we speak, love, discipline, and support them.

Every child deserves to feel safe, valued, and cared for. When we invest in their emotional wellbeing, their education, health and their sense of belonging, we are actively shaping a stronger future for Jamaica.

This experience remains a heartfelt reminder and a renewed commitment to being part of the change our children not only need, but deserve.

From Manila to Kingston, this Christmas reminded me that the greatest gift we can give is love, presence, and hope. Empowering young minds and bodies!

Our Miss Universe Jamaica 2025 aspirant, Matea Smith visited children to promote inclusive education and sports opportunities while giving her gifts to Jamaican children as part of her continued flight in making every child happy and celebrated.

With her foundation @lovealwaysmatea , she is working to provide access to quality education and sports for the underserved sector of the community, particularly children with disabilities.
