What’s in a home health PT’s bag?🎒⁣
⁣
A physical therapist’s primary role is the assessment of vitals. These pieces of equipment are essential for PTs to assess the patient’s overall health and appropriateness for physical activity. ⁣
⁣
🌡 Therefore, home health PTs definitely need the proper 𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, including:⁣
• Blood pressure monitor (BP)⁣
• Thermometer (temperature)⁣
• Pulse oximeter (SpO2, HR) ⁣
⁣
🦠 Remember, we are still in a global pandemic so we need equipment to sanitize our equipment, bag, and hands. Materials for 𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹, include:⁣
• Hand sanitizer⁣
• Lysol wipes ⁣
• Gloves⁣
• Masks⁣
⁣
🤟🏽 Beyond that, a physical therapist needs equipment for their 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗲𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗲𝘅𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗲 & 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, which include:⁣
• Gait belt⁣
• Resistance bands⁣
• Dumbbells ⁣
• Arex pads⁣
• Mobilization belts⁣
etc. ⁣
⁣

My perspective on WORK has drastically changed since I first started PT school. 💭⁣
⁣
✨ Heading into PT school, I had so much idealism about working in the PT field. My young self did not care about the money. I fully believed that my 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 for helping people was enough. ⁣
⁣
While I still do believe in having a passion for PT, I now have a more well-rounded and realistic view on work. 🔀⁣
⁣
👉🏽 After working 2 years in the profession, I understand the importance of the money & finances. ⁣
⁣
I deeply believe in…⁣
• getting paid your worth. ⁣
• the importance of negotiating for higher pay & benefits.⁣
• getting paid for my time & energy. ⁣
• student debt elimination/cancellation/forgiveness.⁣
• financial education.⁣
• building generational wealth for my family. ⁣
⁣
Remember, a job can fulfill your passions while also providing financial wellness and security. 👍🏽 -Dr. V⁣

Who inspires you?
.
It’s World Occupational Therapy Day, and I could think of no better time to share SOME of my favorite OTs that inspire me as a clinician and as a person!

Thank you for taking up space and showing up where it matters.

Thank you for being you and no one else.

In this profession we don’t strive for cookie-cutter interventions, and I’m so glad we don’t fit into just one box as OTPs either.

Thanks for serving clients, families, and communities everywhere.

And thanks for bringing us along on the journey ❤️❤️

I wish I could share everyone but that definitely would not fit in a reel lol. So, please tag someone that inspires you and take the time to make their day!!
