Celebrating our beautiful daughter 7th & 8th spin earlier this year — a special gathering of the fairies to honour her first cycle of completion (cancelled last year by cyclone Alfie) and her 8th spin 🦋

This was such a special moment for our family as Indi chose everything herself to host her fairy friends — we love her generous and creative heart & the kind and loving friends she has to hold her.

I am as always, so slow to post but thank you to our friends for making this a celebration one that marked our hearts. We love you.

And to the most incredible local @parisbrestfrenchbakery for this amazing cake.

POV: you sneak in a home date night after the kids are asleep 🤫🥂

You dim the lights, cue the smooth tunes, and shake up your own Aussie-style espresso martinis—because date nights don’t need babysitters, just a little creativity 😉

🍸 Mix, shake & sip your way to cocktail perfection
☕ Indulge in a rich, locally inspired twist on the classic
💛 Enjoy a moment of just us—no interruptions (hopefully!)

Which Taste & Create kit will you choose? Aussie Espresso Martinis or Classic Cocktails? Comment 🍸 or 🍹 below!

Dads and daughters. I just can’t deal. As a daughter whose Dad was very absent from my life - I know the power of the presence of a father. When I see it in all its purity. When I see a good and worthy father it gets me. It’s just too beautiful.

Truth be told this episode was meant to happen way back in March! But the ole Covid had other plans. Coming up this Sunday I chat with my brother from another mother Mark. Husband, Father and Sparky. We chat work life chaos / balance and the challenges chasing and managing both those things. True to the content of what we talked about we squeezed this recording in late one night amid the midweek chaos. It’ll be a doozy.

'Love Salt Light' have put on a fantastic giveaway, asking couples to share what it is that grows our love. So here I am writing up something at 11pm, wondering if maybe I’ve missed the cut off because of daylight savings (haha technically it’s still the 13th in QLD). Regardless of whether or not I’ve missed the cut off or whether or not we even have a chance at winning this, just writing this up and contemplating about what it is that grows our love has both challenged me and encouraged me. It’s made me very grateful all over again for choosing a man who loves God wholeheartedly and chooses daily to love me so well. It definitely isn’t always easy being married, but gosh I wouldn’t want to do life alongside anyone else but Jas.
Having my sister live with us for the past two years, has meant we have really had to be intentional about our one on one time spent together. Throw a baby in the mix and all of a sudden your time together needs to be REALLY intentional, otherwise the busyness of life can get in the way. Now Chloe always worked on Thursday nights, so Thursday quickly became our ‘date night.’ Although we both never verbalised it, I know we both really looked forward to these nights together. It would look different every week: playing our favourite board game, a movie, cooking dinner together, sitting in the hammock on the verandah drinking cider (even the mundane tasks like washing dishes and folding baby nappies become a special time to chat about whatever was on our mind #parentlife). It was always our Thursday. Our uninterrupted, walk around in whatever, kinda night (well until Chlo finished work at 9:30 😂). This somewhat random, but always welcomed evening has helped us stay grounded and close to each other, even when our weeks got busy, we could always count on our Thursday night together.
Another small and seemingly insignificant way we grow our love (or should I say, makes us feel loved and won’t ever get old) is; in winter Jas lays on my side of the bed 15 mins before I get in so it’s warm for me. I have all the love heart eyes for him when he does this. Continued below 👇🏽 #growyourlove #lovesaltlightgiveaway

One year on, one more babe in our little family + one more year of learning how to intentionally love each other amongst the chaos that is life raising two under two.
Life is busy. Actually. Life is BUSY.
I love my husband beyond words but finding time to invest in our love and #growyourlove has been a tricky thing to put in place. Half way through last year when we realised we were running the cycle of ‘keep the company running’, ‘keep on top of house’, ‘keep very energetic toddler alive’ etc etc we decided we needed time. Time to catch up, focus on us and talk. Talk about whatever - the big + the small stuff. So Sunday mornings became our family breakfast mornings. Pancakes, French toast, wheetbix - you name it we would eat it, at the table sitting, face to face. A moment in the crazy week to stop.
This isn’t just something we plan on doing for a time but we want to continue it as our kids grow too. To develop a character of caring and investing into each other.
This morning it was yogurt and muesli. I promise as our 7 week old grows up i’ll get back into cooked breakfast for you @rammo29 😂

We are pretty practical when it comes to making time for each other and building our marriage! Our gorgeous friends over at @lovesaltlight have asked us to share how we grow our love. .. When it comes to our favourite thing to do we spend every weekend and our holidays going on long walks together. LONG ONES!Hiking, packed lunches and exploring anywhere that is bushy or beachy is our favourite way to spend time together. This comes from our love of being outdoors , but also because we have both had to adapt our gym/exercise routine because of injuries. Shaun broke his arm badly and I've had a back injury which has ended up as a blessing in the end. We've switched individual indoor workouts for outdoor time together; chats about what kind of parents we want to be (our baby is coming in May), where we want to travel, playing 'would you rather' (die by a toothless gummy lion or flesh eating ants?!) ... we also stopped bringing our phones while we walk so we dont get distracted.

The other major change we've made recentlt has been restricting our screen time...😬😬😬 This has been such a process over 2018, but it was getting so easy to fall into netflix binges, working late, not debriefing about our day and sleeping poorly. So we bought an outlet device from amazon that disconnects wifi and our TV from 9pm-9am everyday. GAH! (Oh shit! Was our first reaction 🙈). That was a pretty big deal for us! This has helped us remove the option of mindlessly watching or scrolling on our devices. Eliminating that choice has meant that we are spending more intentional time communicating, winding down, doing my own art and reading. And we sleep so much better!
We will keep these healthy marriage habits up in 2019 💗💗💗 And we are excited (sometimes overwhelmed 😖) to be figuring out how to keep these rolling on while bring our baby into the mix. 👶
