The Obituary...

This seems like the ideal martini variation for celebrating five years of NO TIME TO DIE. For added Bond vibes I substituted Lillet for the the Vermouth and coated my glass in @stgeorgespirits absinthe verte, resulting in a seafaring taste I think would go well with oysters (I may try a drop of saline in the next mix) - allowing me to celebrate the anniversary with a libation clean and fresh on the palette.

2 fl oz Old Tom Gin
1⁄3 fl oz Bianco Vermouth
1⁄6 fl oz absinthe

This time, Jim Fanning is SERIOUS.

Artist @lowbellstudio:

"Every year I relish the opportunity to get goofy with #JimFanningFriday - the annual bow tie campaign put on by David at Licence To Queer - but given this year's choice to honor CASINO ROYALE I knew it was time for the ever cozy, professorial Jim to get down to dark and moody business.

"If you would like to take part in Jim Fanning Friday yourself, all you have to do is post a bow tie photo and tag @licencetoqueer while using the #jimfanningfriday hashtag.

"Many thanks to David for keeping this tradition alive for a sixth year! It always reminds me why I love the Bond franchise and the community built around it, and sends me into the weekend with a smile on my face."

A week from today…

Next Tuesday on January 27th at @theculvertheater From Culver With Love kicks off our 2026 season with the first film in “The Tracy Trilogy”, ON HER MAJESTY’S SECRET SERVICE in a stunning 4K restoration. Make sure you don’t miss the unforgettable Swiss vistas on the big screen, accompanied by John Barry’s sweeping and heartbreaking score like you’ve never experienced before.

Legendary Bond author @rbinperson will be our special guest for the evening, starting with a Q&A after our popular pre-show and before the main attraction. Raymond will also be on hand for autographs and book signings, so bring your favorite 007 Benson novels with you, and get there extra early too.

Along with our themed cocktails, there will be a few surprises from cast members of the film, and one lucky attendee might go home with something extra special…

Tickets are going FAST for this show and won’t last much longer, so be sure you grab yours today through the links in our bio and stories. Cheers everyone, and we’ll see you off-piste.

Amazing poster artwork is from our friend @lowbellstudio 🎨

"Slate was a dead end" 💀 ~ Coming next week on #britishculture #albionneverdies is a special episode on "The Britishness of Quantum of Solace". Naturally, I had to make notes using the special stationary set from @lowbellstudio . Brilliantly inspired by the Hôtel Dessalines where the unfortunate Mr. Slate stays.

The #podcast "British Culture: Albion Never Dies" is available on all good podcasting platforms, and a few rubbish ones as well. I'm not particular. After all, "If we refuse to do business with villains, we'd have almost no one to trade with" as the Foreign Secretary says in the 2008 #jamesbond outing. Great line.

Mission #secretsanta007 2024 was a great success this year! Thank you to everyone who participated again and all the new folks who joined us this year!

Here’s a sampling of what some of our community members received this year. I look forward to doing it again a year from now. 😊

It was a lot of fun to paint my James Bond book collection! 😃📚 I didn’t include every single one as a few are dotted around the house here and there or in storage, but for the most part this is it. A lot of people have been asking to give a run down of exactly which books are in the painting, so here it is! ✍️ Depending on the size of the book a certain amount of detail has to be left to the imagination as the painting itself is only 26cm wide, but I think quite a few are instantly recognisable to the trained Bondian eye! 😎

Mission #secretsanta007 was a success this year! We had a total of 14 participants all over the US and Europe participate in the first ever James Bond Secret Santa Holiday Exchange. I hope you all had a fun time participating as much as I had organizing it! Thought I’d share some of the gifts people received from their Secret Santa’s.

Some folks decided to be good and wait till Christmas to open their gift. Some (like myself) were naughty and opened them as soon as we got our gift in the mail 😜 There were no rules as to when they could open their gift, it was dealers choice 😄

Either way, I think it was quite the success! Thank you to everyone who participated and look forward to hosting another one next year!

International #JimFanningFriday returns!

What better way to celebrate a cult character with less than 5 minutes of screentime than by donning a bow tie and taking a selfie? Last year saw several dozen lovable lunatics do exactly that (see link in bio for details of this and the bizarre origins of #JimFanningFriday).

Even animals and babies got involved!

Last year's event was entitled Bow Time To Die For (named by @quantumofsilliness) so what shall we call this year's?

The best I've summoned so far are in the second image.

Bow Tie 2 Die For (my husband's suggestion, as it's a sequel to last year's event)

Dr. Bow (for the 60th anniversary)

Big Fanning Energy (because that's the level of confidence we give ourselves when we wear a bow tie)
