Nice moments among the chaos. Juggling a full time job and the final stages of creating a cookbook is really stretching me at the moment. I’m feeling pulled in all directions and am often having to remind myself that this is self inflicted. Something I try to do as frequently as I can is journal. It helps me sit back and reflect, process and understand, reframe and grow.

Interestingly, it’s this journaling practice that underpins my new cookbook. It pulls together journal entries that connect to the recipes in the book. Cooking a bowl of pasta for a beloved friend who was going through a rough time. Crying at the farmers market and cooking soup with the acquired tomatoes. Falling out of a tree while collecting mulberries and hobbling home to make a cake. Walking with my friend to get an ice cream on our lunch break and then recreating my favourite flavour at home. Picking cherry plums on a tree near a swimming hole and making jam with them.

It’s a deeply personal account of four years of living in the country.

Its now available to preorder 🩵

I so appreciate your patience and interest in this book. Self publishing is a wild ride and I don’t have the capacity to really make social media work to my advantage (the algo hates an infrequent poster like me), so over the coming weeks, the more you can engage with my posts and stories, like them, comment on them, share them etc - it would all go such a long way to helping me get back on the map so people can see there’s a new book on its way.

Natural cotton canvas was the first fabric I bought for my tiny biz with the intention of using it across multiple items. Many pieces are now retired! Here's some images of friends and by friends spanning 2017 - 2021. Many I've had the pleasure of working with again and again!!

I decided at the end of 2025 after a year off purchasing LIMIT fabrics that it was time I reassessed the Archive fabrics I was using too. At the moment, the word "Archive" describes both the block garments that I create, and also the fabrics I have continuously reordered and had on hand (black, natural, and cream).

Over the years, the possibility and knowledge for matching my values with fabric options has increased, simultaneously with physical space for holding fabric rolls getting smaller!

So a heads up if you've had your eye on a pair of pants, shorts, or skirt in natural canvas that I recommend planning to pre order on the 1st, as I only have enough left for a couple of pieces.

I'll probably go a little more in depth in my Newsletter (sign up at bottom of web) and keep you posted for if/when the black drill and the seersuckers start to run low too.

Email me if you need me! hello@hbarchive.com.au xxx
