“This centennial exhibition was a testament to the enduring vitality of the art and antiques trade in the United States, and to the dealers who have upheld its standards for a century. We are particularly proud to partner with Freeman's, as their legacy and standards dovetail with our own.”
— Clinton Howell, Co-President, Art and Antique Dealers League of America

An 18th-century Italian continuous frame and a 20th-century American Stanford White composition receding frame, presented by LOWY, alongside a Gainsborough open armchair from Clinton Howell. @clintonhowell @lowy1907

Forever is a Feeling - Lucy Dacus. 7”x7”.
this took 125 hours, plus another 30 hours just picking out the colors and marking where they’ll go😭😭😭 it’s definitely my best work, and probably my life’s greatest accomplishment lmao. i’m super happy with how it turned out! I’ve spent the past 3 weeks on it, and i think if it had taken any longer i would have lost my mind lmao.
I first did this cover back in march, and i think it’s crazy how much ive improved in the past few months. completing my collection of anchor and cosmo floss definitely helped a ton as well, i’ve probably spent at least 1k just on embroidery floss since doing this the first time (mom if you’re reading this forget i said that pls💀) I did basically the entire cover one strand of floss at a time. most of the frame i did two at a time, just to create some depth.
like i said, im thrilled with how this turned out, but i am never doing anything this detailed again💀
I’ll be seeing Lucy Dacus this july in Madison with my friend, and i had to redo this cover in the desperate hope of being able to give it to her then. everyone please manifest us making barricade, and if we do, that i’ll be able to give it to her at the show😭🙏🙏🙏

I'm in Mexico with my dear friend and frequent collaborator, the designer @jane_schulak, and this Christmas interpretation is from our book AT THE ARTISAN'S TABLE. In a volume exploring handmade table items throughout history, we got creative with black basalt for this chapter, challenging ourselves to make the least festive of colors work for the holidays. How'd we do?

Wishing you and yours a wonderful Christmas filled with sweets and good times. SWIPE ◀️ for more.

I recently started following @inspiredtowrite , and author Amie McNee advises to “promote your creations for years after the launch.” So, I’m going to shamelessly follow her lead: If you need a wonderful holiday gift for that person in your life who loves to entertain, reveres the handmade, is fascinated with history, and finds joy in creating a mean tablescape, our book AT THE ARTISAN’S TABLE, created in collaboration with designer (and dear friend!) @jane_schulak is what you are looking for.

Swipe ◀️ to see more from our chapter entitled, Black Basalt, an unexpected hue and material choice for the holidays. What do you think? Is black festive or funereal?

You can purchase AT THE ARTISAN’S TABLE online as well as at bookstores and specialty shops everywhere. There is also a link in our bio where you are one click away from making it yours! 😉

I still have a “pinch me” moment every time I walk into the most extraordinary museums and stores in the world and stumble upon AT THE ATISAN’S TABLE, the book we created in collaboration with @jane_schulak . Whether spotted at museums like @metmuseum and @madparis or exquisite stores and galleries like @johnderiancompany , @march.sf , @librairiegalignani and @dienstanddotter , I’m very proud that a year and a half later, we’re still going strong with books on the shelves, front and center in all of my favorite places.

A big thank you to the gallerists and shopkeepers who believe in our book and the importance of the handmade and to all of you who are such awesome supporters, we appreciate you.
