Studio Art Printmaking Highlight: Professor Lari Gibbons

National recognition. Real-world experience.

Professor Lari Gibbons is bringing CVAD printmaking to a national stage. The UNT Studio Art professor was invited to the Youngstown State University, Youngstown, Ohio, Red Press Collaborative, where she worked side by side with students to create a limited-edition print — sharing a practice that blends traditional craft with digital innovation.

At CVAD, you learn from faculty who are actively shaping the field — in the studio, across the country and around the world.

Read the article on the CVAD News and Views website.

Lovely to see some photos of this exhibition at the Udatsu Paper and Craft Museum in Echizen celebrating the work of all the artists that participated in the MI-LAB AIR 2024 including two of my mokuhanga prints ‘Okamoto River’ and ‘Inyo’. It’s on until 20 January - just a shame I can’t just pop in! Really nice to see my prints next to others from our group including Lari, Jessica, Najla, Anna and Roman - we had a great group 😃. Thanks to @asukatsutsumi_ and @tobykobayashi for all their work organising the exhibition and taking photos ( thank you @cfshe_gallery for sharing 🙏)@echizen.washi

A short visit to the residency of BPC. It is always so inspiring and encouraging to see participating artists in person and talk to them. Everyone was busy finishing prints for the open studio and review on the last week.
Kay and Lari kindly gave me an interview which I will use for a presentation for the conference of #transculturalexchange in Boston in March, 2025.

Thank you so much, and I wish you to complete your residency successfully!

Site Visit Spotlight: Louisiana State University!

We just wrapped up an amazing site visit at LSU, host of the upcoming Mid America Print Council “Printelligence” Conference and we’re thrilled by what’s in store!

From expansive lithography, etching, and relief studios, to a vibrant letterpress shop, papermaking area, book arts and fabrication lab, LSU’s printmaking facilities set the stage for an unforgettable gathering of printmakers, thinkers, and makers.

Beyond campus, Baton Rouge will come alive with satellite events across local galleries, theaters, studios, and parks, showcasing the region’s creative energy and community spirit.

Stay tuned for registration details, programming sneak peeks, and calls for participation are coming soon!

Huge thanks to our hosts Lauren Cardenas, Leslie Koptcho, and the folks at LSU and surrounding area for the warm welcome and inspiring visit!

Today marks one week since we arrived in Echizen for the @cfshe_gallery residency. We had an intensive 3 days learning the fundamentals of mokuhanga. Carving, preparing paper for printing, printing, and even sizing paper. Thank you so much to @ct_1015 for sharing her knowledge and @tobykobayashi for translating for us all day.

And a big thank you to Sato-san for taking care of us and my fellow artists in residence. I’ve already learned so much from you and feel so lucky to be in the program together. がんばろう！
