A Big Personal Project
Charter Arms Target Bulldog .357 4"
Color Case Hardening, Hot Salt Bluing, Cerakote Black and Clear, and Aluminum Metal Staining. All learned and practiced on one gun!

This gun belonged to my Grandma. She had it under the cash register at her VHS store for many years when I was a child.
Now it has become sort of a portfolio piece for me and I couldn't be happier.

Colorado School of Trades taught me bluing and cerakote and let me use the facilities.
I took a class from LT Arms to learn color case hardening.
And Sculpt Nouveau helped me with the metal staining to finish the look I was chasing.

I have so many people to thank.

Current student Myles Koester used his own J. Stevens 94B to case harden with @ltarms1 . Versus a clear Cerakote finish, Myles decided to use lin-speed oil.

This finish is actually boiled linseed oil and petroleum thinner. This is a fast acting finish and is meant to protect the color case hardened finishes underneath.

Huge thanks to our industry friends @ltarms1 for hosting our current students to learn color case hardening.

Stephen Belles decided to finish up his Winchester 1894 and Ryan Draper sought to bring this H&R Topper Model 48 back to life. These students went through the whole process of polishing, annealing and eventually the method to case hardened these receivers.

Great work, Ryan and Stephen!
