Smoke is how the invisible becomes visible and time turns tangible.
In creating this ceramic piece during my residency in China, I was deeply inspired by observing the deep-rooted customs and meaningful traditions of incense burning that connect history, nature, and community.
From an anthropological lens, smoke has always gathered us as a tribe—it is an ephemeral architecture connecting the everyday with the sacred. Psychologically, its spirals compel us to stop; they cannot be rushed, only inhabited. The aroma goes directly to our emotions.

Beside a temple on a waterfall in China, I gathered some friends to light incense sticks together—for Heaven, Earth, and Humanity—in this very incense holder I molded by hand. It was a collective ritual to sense our energy fields interacting and connect. Art is a vehicle for this practices.
Today, this piece returns charged with the energy of that place and that memory. An object designed to inhabit the present.
📍Now available in Barcelona and via shipping; DM to purchase.
