•42nd Army Ten-Miler 2026• From running the race to leading the team, a journey I will never forget. After completing the 41st Army Ten-Miler in 2025, I ended my reflection with these words: “I don’t know what’s next yet, but I know this journey meant so much more than just running a race. It reminded me that no matter how many times you fall, as long as you keep showing up, there’s always a way to rise again.” Little did I know that my next chapter would turn out to be something I never expected. After competing as a runner, I was given the opportunity to take on the role of Team Manager and Coach for the 2026 team. I would like to thank @jiahaoyip for recommending me for the role and former SMA CWO Sanjee Singh for his support in giving me this opportunity. Looking back, I am truly thankful that I took on this challenge, because it turned out to be one of the most meaningful experiences of my running journey. The Journey Began Long Before Training Started. When I first found out that I would be leading the team for ATM 2026, one of the first things I thought about was what I could do for the runners. Having experienced the race myself the year before, I wanted them to have the same wonderful experience I had, if not an even better one. I started thinking about everything that could help them along the way. There were the race apparel, supplements for training and recovery, selection races, and the training programme they would go through. I even had the idea of creating a team logo so that the runners could have a shared identity and something to belong to, not just for this year’s team but for the teams that would follow in the years to come. I am glad I managed to bring that idea to life! There was so much more to being a Team Manager than just running. Behind the scenes, there were budgets to work on, administrative processes to understand, approvals to obtain, and countless details to coordinate. Work officially started in December 2025, and with the groundwork laid by @jiahaoyip and his guidance, I had a much easier time taking over the administrative responsibilities. 🏆🇸🇬 CHAMPIONS — ALL COMERS CATEGORY | ARMY TEN-MILER 2026 🇸🇬🇺🇸 WE DID IT! 🏆 Proud to share that Team Singapore has emerged as Champions in the All Comers Category, out of 65 participating teams, with an improved timing of 4:04:42, improving from last year’s 4:05:50 by 1 minute and 8 seconds!💪🏻 Race day was far from easy. Heavy rain, cold weather and slippery roads made the conditions challenging, but the team persevered, pushed through the adversity and overcame it all to bring home the championship! Behind this result were two months of preparation, 29 face-to-face training sessions and a total of 629.43km run together before race day. 🏃🏻‍♂️🏃🏻‍♀️ From the early mornings and tough sessions to the highs and lows, every bit of hard work, time and commitment brought us here. This result is a testament to the effort each and every team member put in! A huge thank you to SMA, CWO Chua Hong Hup, for the support, guidance and trust in making this opportunity possible. We are truly grateful for the opportunity to represent the @oursingaporearmy on an international stage. We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to AC5 COL Edwin Chua, CO SWAS SWO Kelson Tan, LNO LTC Johnson Sim and the rest of our senior leadership for taking the time to join us for the race and show their support. We are grateful for your encouragement and presence. To my team, thank you for your commitment, sacrifices and willingness to push through every session together. As your coach and Team Manager, I couldn’t be prouder of what we have achieved. It has been a privilege to lead and be part of such a great team. More than the result, I’m thankful for the journey we shared and the memories we created along the way. We came together with one goal, put in the work, and delivered when it mattered.
