Very excited that my latest short documentary, The Last of the Lookouts, has been selected as a finalist at the 2026 @banffmountainfestival!! 🗻🗼🎥

Banff is such a wonderful event, and there’s no other place I’d rather have the World Premiere. It was a record-breaking year for entries, which makes this selection even more special!

It will be playing on Sunday November 8 in the morning mixed films session. Hope to see you there!

A huge thanks to my team for the hard work on this one 🙏🏽⬇️

Celebrating the @hopeandhardwork launch this weekend at @tiff_net after witnessing all the - literal, hope & hard work - that @justinpjtrudeau and @ketelford have put in behind-the-scenes over the past year. Their goal of bringing people together through stories is a value that aligns to our core, and we are so excited about what this means for Canadian storytellers.

Also, thrilled to share that our production company @earthtoneslab has entered a strategic partnership with Hope & Hard Work. So, alongside our continued work leading Earth Tones, we are taking on new roles building and heading up their Unscripted slate.

We’re so excited to make some TV & Movie Magic with this team! And to work with so many of you - our fellow Canadian creatives. 🎥✨🍿 xx AJ & Aliza #StayTuned

@cbc Docs Executive, Lucius Dechausay (@luciusd) explains how ‘Bird Names’ isn't just a part of the conversation for changing the names of nearly 150 North American birds named after men with harmful legacies, but the film may actually be leading that conversation.

Watch ‘Bird Names’ now to see how we are leading the conversation for a better, more inclusive world on CBC Gem and The Nature of Things YouTube now.

Audubon is synonymous with Birding…but did you know the legacy behind the man has an uglier side that the beautiful birds he’s known for?

Watch our documentary with CBC, ‘Bird Names’, now streaming on @cbcgem in 🇨🇦 or on YouTube by clicking the link in our bio to WATCH! 📺.

Bird Names just won Best Documentary Short at the Miami Women Film Festival. Plenty of excellent men helped make this one too. But today, respectfully, they can hold our purses while we applaud the matriarchy. 👏

Very grateful to everyone who trusted us with this strange, funny, complicated little story about birds, names, history—and who gets remembered. Watch BIRD NAMES for free on @cbcgem or stream it in @cbcdocs YouTube channel.

“There’s something about this film that allows you to think very deeply about something very simple.” CBC Docs Executive, Lucius Dechausay (@luciusd) reflects on how ‘Bird Names’ leaves you more aware of your surroundings and the stories behind them. The interview was conducted by the film’s star @TykeeJames at a virtual screening during Black Birders Week.

You can now stream ‘Bird Names’ on CBC Gem and The Nature of Things YouTube now.

Excited to announce that Bird Names has been nominated for best short film at the Venice Shorts Film Festival!

Venice Shorts of LA was founded by a team of American and Canadian filmmakers in Venice Beach California. The festival, which focuses on promoting Indie filmmakers, has turned into one of the most popular international short film festivals with sold out screening in Los Angeles.

Thank you @cbcdocs @cbcgem for trusting our team and crew to tell this lighthearted - but important - environmental justice story. #BirdNames #BirdNamesonCBC

I am proud and honoured to be a voting member of the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television | l’Académie canadienne du cinéma et de la télévision (@thecdnacademy) and I was thrilled to attend First Take, the kickoff reception for Canadian Screen Week and the Canadian Screen Awards celebrating the best in film, TV and streaming.

Now more than ever stories have the power to create connection, foster understanding, shatter stereotypes, and change the world. So here’s to supporting, amplifying and celebrating storytellers from coast to coast to coast. Here’s to growing our creative sectors through robust public and private funding, partnerships, and collaboration. And here’s to removing barriers and making our arts and culture sector truly accessible, equitable and inclusive. #CdnScreenAwards #film #tv #streaming #academy
