From competitive swimming to professional triathlon, Luke’s path through sport has never been the conventional one.

He came through Singapore’s sports school system, completed National Service, and has spent years building a professional career in a country where pursuing elite endurance sport comes with its own set of challenges.

Through the highs, setbacks, and everything in between, Luke has kept coming back to the same question: how far can I take this?

That is exactly the kind of athlete Sandhill was built to support.

We think too much of modern sponsorship has become transactional: give an athlete product, then measure their value in reach. To us, that’s superficial.

We want to build partnerships around the athlete’s career, not just their audience.

That means showing up around the racing, helping with equipment, creating opportunities, supporting representation and content, and giving athletes more room to focus on training, competing, and getting better.
Luke wants to find out how far he can take this.
We want to help him get there.

Diving into my Asian Games 🇯🇵 debut in the Triathlon Mixed Relay! ⚡️

A fast and furious race from start to finish. Going in, I felt a mix of excitement and nerves, but once the race started, it was all about staying present, chasing down the next competitor.

A huge thank you to my behind-the-scenes crew — family, SNOC, TAS, coaches and friends — for all the support, encouragement and countless hours that went into getting me here. You’ve all played such a big part in this journey, and I’m incredibly grateful to have you in my corner. 🙏🏼❤️

And of course, not forgetting for the support @wheel_angel and making sure my wheels were in top conditions. 🫶🏻

Ada yang berbeda dari fasilitas di Athlete Village Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026. Bukan soal desain yang mewah, melainkan material yang digunakan untuk membuat sejumlah fasilitas para atlet.

Atlet Singapura Luke Chuaa membagikan pengalamannya saat melihat langsung fasilitas di Athlete Village melalui Instagram pada Jumat (18/9/2026).

Perhatian Luke tertuju pada tempat tidur yang ternyata dibuat menggunakan material karton. Sekilas terlihat seperti tempat tidur biasa, tetapi materialnya cukup kuat untuk digunakan sebagai alas tidur para atlet.

Luke bersama rekannya pun tampak terkejut saat mencoba dan melihat langsung konstruksinya. Karton yang selama ini identik dengan kemasan barang justru dimanfaatkan menjadi bagian dari fasilitas tempat tinggal atlet selama ajang olahraga berlangsung.

Bukan hanya tempat tidur. Penyangga sepeda yang tersedia di area parkir Athlete Village juga menggunakan material serupa.

抵達日本之後的第一個完整訓練日，前一晚 @elta_sports 本次派駐記者之一的 @chang.yichi.tw 就聯絡訓練時程細節，今天一早就花了將近兩個小時來進行鐵人三項代表隊的訪問。鐵人三項賽場相對獨立，也少了其他會場的紛亂、班車誤點、資訊錯誤，日本當地也一掃連日降雨，像是迎接我們的到來（吧？），這一切美好都讓團隊感到備受禮遇，忘記昨日舟車勞頓的疲憊！

訓練結束之後的裝備確認，都比起單項國際賽更加嚴格。明日將進行賽道官方場地適應，可以預期到賽事氣氛會如溫水煮青蛙的漸漸升高，期待我們是那鍋溫水🤞🏻

HISTORY FOR SINGAPORE TRIATHLON

For the first time, Singapore will have triathletes racing in the individual events at the Asian Games.

Luke Chua, Tey Yi Jun, Herlene Yu and Kathlyn Yeo will line up individually at Aichi-Nagoya 2026, while Lim Wan Ting will represent Singapore in the mixed team relay.

For some, the road to the Games has meant going all-in on the sport. For others, increasing training loads, relocating overseas and balancing training with major life transitions.

And Yeo’s journey has been especially remarkable: she hit the Asian Games qualifying standard in just the third triathlon of her career.

“This is going to be the highest level of racing that I've been to thus far,” said Tey, who only picked up triathlon in 2023.

Four individual athletes. A historic first. And a chance to show just how far Singapore triathlon has come. 🇸🇬

The individual races take place on 20 September, followed by the mixed team relay on 21 September.

We dropped by Sports School to catch up with our athletes who are doing a last training camp before they leave for Japan for the Asian Games!

This is the first time we have individual representation at the Asian Games with two males and two females, on top of the Team Relay.

Thank you, Spain. 🇪🇸❤️ PART 1

A summer of chasing those better than me and learning from the best.

A truly special thank you to @warwickdalziel and @trimatticperformancecoaching for a summer I’ll never forget. For every workout, every conversation, every correction, and every time you pushed me when I needed it. For allowing me to pick your brains and learn from coaches who have spent years mastering this sport. I came to Spain wanting to become a better athlete, but I’m leaving with a much better understanding of what that actually requires.

Thank you to the @betterhfitness athletes I chased all summer long. Training beside people who are willing to suffer every day made me better. I’m grateful for every rep, ride, run, and crazy open-water swims🤪

Thank you to my family away from home in Getxo for making a foreign country feel like home. @getxotri

Thank you to @coachkim1 for the encouragement and introduction to this camp. Also, for helping me build the foundation to be ready for this level of training.
