What does Dinner with Friends actually mean?

With a handful of ways to interpret it, the choice is yours.

The most obvious way would be to purchase tickets for your friends, and sit down and enjoy a multi-course experience with those you love.

Another way, less commonly thought of might be to go it alone - knowing full well that by the end of a cocktail fueled evening you would likely be besties with the former strangers that sat beside you.

Then there is the flipside, what does that mean for the kitchen? the bar team?

Before the first season of DWF I sat down with @arwesterfield and we made a list of the chefs in the city that WE felt were changing the culinary landscape, chefs that have served as deep inspirations for us.
Before we kicked things off some of the chefs we invited were prior friends of ours, others were just distant aspirations.

The very same goes for this season. While you are at your seat making friends over good food and drink, we are in the kitchen collaborating and making friends over a meal, just like you ♥️

YESTERDAY Chef Jacob Howell @grannrestaurant popped in to chat about this coming Wednesday when we kick off Dinner with Friends season 2 TOGETHER 🤙

A few remaining tickets at www.exploretock.com/delasoil
Hope to see you there!!!

Had a lovely little overnight stay at @lodgeatstedward last week! Had some quiet reading time, quarterly dinner with @alicia_hastings_ at @cedarandelmseattle, caught up with @lukekolpin and he gifted us each ‘Seattle Eats + Drinks’ cookbook that he’s featured in. Ended the night introducing Alicia to Twilight for the first time 💫 📸 First pic taken by @alicia_hastings_

A bittersweet evening at Cedar + Elm. 🥂

With The Lodge at St. Edward Park preparing for an exciting new chapter and Cedar + Elm taking a pause during the upcoming renovations, I can’t help but think about all the wonderful evenings we’ve spent here.

Over the years, we’ve enjoyed so many incredible meals, but what has always stood out is the hospitality. Chef @lukekolpin and his team have consistently gone above and beyond to make us feel welcome, and our latest visit was no exception.

From Luke personally welcoming and seating us, to a beautiful bottle of bubbles, an extraordinarily generous dinner, and a signed cookbook to take home — we were absolutely spoiled!

And a special thank you to Parker, who has made so many of our visits feel less like dining out and more like catching up with a friend. It’s people like you who make hospitality so special.

Change is always a little bittersweet, but I’m also excited for what comes next. There’s something wonderful about having the time to travel, find new inspiration, and explore passions and ideas that aren’t always possible when you’re working those long restaurant hours.

Luke, I can’t wait to see what’s next! From travels and pop-ups to a possible sandwich shop and whatever other adventures come your way, I’ll be cheering you on.

Thank you to Luke, Parker, and the entire Cedar + Elm team for so many memorable meals, your incredible generosity, and the kind of hospitality that stays with you long after dinner is over.

Here’s to new adventures and exciting beginnings! 🥂

Our invite to cook for @secret_supper came out of the blue - and it came at a time when we were extremely busy - both running @delasoilrestaurant which is becoming increasingly busier as time passes & working hard to open @emberkenmore.

@arwesterfield and I spoke at length as to whether or not we had the bandwidth to tackle something like @secret_supper - something that required our full attention.

She eventually pushed me over the edge and said "Let's do it!" -

I am so thankful that she did, it was such a magical evening cooking for a sold out crowd @jardindelsolsnohomish -

Huge thanks to @da_mushroom_chef and the homie @lukekolpin for the help executing a remarkable dinner service. You know we couldn't have done it without you 🤙

The front of house team making sure things flowed smoothly - thank you @emmettkunkler, @paayge & @paigecolemann

And thanks once again for the invite @secret_supper 🙏♥️

🌸 De La Solstice is coming to Kenmore! 🌸

Another year has passed and it’s time to assemble your flower crowns, snag a cold cocktail, and get ready to feast on a whole roasted pig! 🐖🔥

We’re bringing the ultimate summer celebration to the neighborhood, and the lineup is stacked. @DJCide will be setting the mood, spinning outside on the patio to start the evening, before we move indoors for another legendary installment of @copperworksdistilling_kenmore dance nights! 🎶🕺

Best of all? This is a FREE, ALL AGES event! We're running from 3 PM until LATE, so bring the whole family for the day and stay for the party at night.

See you Saturday, June 20th for the longest celebration of the year!

Still dreaming about last night. We had the absolute honor of cooking al fresco with @secret_supper at the breathtaking @jardindelsolsnohomish.

Between the flame-grilled Latin-inspired feast, great drinks, and candlelit laughter, it was an incredibly special evening.

Tonight, we are right back at it.
See you for dinner at @delasoilrestaurant!
